The Sky Mother had a daughter who gave birth to twin brothers who were as different from each other as night is to day. The first born son sprang forth as a small maple sapling. He was good natured, friendly and helper to others. He gave of himself and provide a sweet syrup which healed and strengthened the land. His brother, Flint, though was hard as stone and dark in so many ways. Flint would try to hide himself in the ground, but when found, could be forced to give of himself by breaking off into sharp edged pieces.
as brothers they were inseparable.
Sky Mother offers the balance of harmony by loving them both and embracing their duality;
with the sweetness of simplicity and the spark of challenge -
the gentleness of Spring and the cold harshness of Winter.
This is the Yin and Yang of the Trees.
