Mooned!!!

Oh, these little scamps think it is hilarious running around the house with no clothes on!

With them being Moon Babies they really think it is down right belly grabbing laughable that they are "mooning me" (showing their cute little behinds to me) while having me chase them to get some clothes on them.

Almost getting the feeling I am dealing with Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Cat in the Hat series.

Especially as they haven't shared their names with me, other than Moonie 1 and Moonie 2. It has something to do about the connection they share with the fairy tale that was born when they were "born". I think that when their fairy tale becomes more of a tale shared, then they will share their name.

In the meantime, I was able to finally get Moonie 1 to sit still long enough to get some clothes on him and add some hair to his sweet face. Here he is hanging out with his new friend, Dawg. He does like to curl up around him when he sits still long enough.

I had to laugh here too as when I was putting hair on Moonie 1, I couldn't resist adding this little curl. Whenever I do this little "touch" to my doll, I hear my mother in my head repeating this poem to me.

Well I wouldn't say "horrid" but certainly curious and mischievious. Now off to see what I can do with Moonie 2.

Dream Weavers...

Hazelwyn could almost taste those crumpets that she enjoyed so well from the Sugar Plum Bakery. "It will be nice talking to a new fae in town and making a new friend," she thought knowing she would be meeting Roslie later at the most popular place in the Village on the Wall.

"Though I can't go there until I drop my 'juicy' column off about Dragonfaust Day," Hazelwyn muttered to herself as she continued into the office of Snoop, the editor of the local newspaper called the Bellwether. "Here it is, Boss. The best article I have written yet. That hullabaloo Lallan created with dragging Seamus over the line after this many years was hilarious!"

"Now I'm off to eat some delicious crumpets, Boss. Enjoy reading my column," said Hazelwyn has she handed her article to Snoop then turned to the doorway. "WAIT!" Snoop said strongly. "I have something else for you to research," waving his hands over the papers on his desk as he looked for something buried there.

Hazelwyn turned and stood in front of Snoop's desk, waiting for him to continue while her patience wore thin as he kept digging. After all, those crumpets were the best in the land and were calling her name and she was hungry. With a few more shuffles of the papers on his desk, Snoop pulled up a one scrap. "Here it is!" he said with a touch of wonder that he always felt when he could find anything on his desk.

"You have heard about these new Moon Babies being born, right?" asked Snoop. Before she could answer he continued, "Guess the new arrival of our friend, Dree, the Moon Dragon, was timely. Who knew how badly we needed this new belief in Fairytales, Magic and Happy Endings. It is so easy to take things for granted until they are gone."

"Though from what I am hearing from the Twitter Birds and along the Mushroom Line, is that there are more moon babies being born then even the Council of Luminosity can handle."

"Who told you that?" Hazelwyn asked. "You know you need creditable resources before you can go around with rumors like that? You aren't printing that in this edition are you?"

E'luminosity (Ellie)

With a slight bow to his head, Snoop replied. "Well, Ellie might have let it slip that she and Meerher have been busy as Thimblehoppers rushing and hopping around to keep up with the babies' demands. And no, I am not putting this in this issue of the Bellwether."

"But this is the thread of gossip I need you to follow up on," lowering his voice Snoop whispered, "I heard because of this great demand, the Powers that Be are summoning a Dream Weaver!"

"Wow," thought Hazelwyn. There hasn't been a Dream Weaver in the Realms since Hag left many eons ago. Almost like at the beginning of time when the Realms came into being. This would be one delicious scoop indeed! "I wonder if the Sugar Plum makes crumpets to go," thought Hazelwyn as she started out on her new assignment.

How to Shrink...

How does one shrink a head? Or more importantly at least to me... is why shrink a head at all???

In my defense it isn't because I am looking to curse anyone or even because it might be fun to watch AI (artificial intelligence) do it. I have a much more practical reason for doing so. And yes, it involves my moon babies.

When I am challenging myself in a new area of creation, I tend to get caught up in the process.

I am not necessarily looking at the end result when I am in the middle of having a conversation with my muse (the clay). It doesn't matter really who is actually going to come out the winner... me or the clay? It's really all about the conversation.

Babies aren't my first choice of dolls to sculpt. They are so soft and round. It is hard to see their perspectives and to get the depths to their faces and probably is why I enjoy sculpting older people for my characters.

But when my muse is inspiring me to see things and think ideas I haven't had before, it is hard to resist. Of course tempting me with the Moonbabies's story had me curious to begin with.

So, now my muse has me hooked! Now I need to create the Moonbabies to bring them into my realm, my world. Their ears were particularly fun to play with, BUT...

Without having to start totally from scratch, the Moonbabies came out bigger than I wanted them to be. My hubby keeps telling me I seem to have a size I like to work in. Who am I to argue with him (*lol*). That being the case, then how do I make the babies smaller in size without tossing the baby out with the bathwater (Old mundane Outie saying *smiling*)?

Back to a little math. First the head shrinks 10% from the size of the clay head to just going into porcelain greenware. This is hardly noticeable when working with the greenware. I need to make a bigger change than that.

When greenware fires to porcelain it looses 20% of it's size. So now I am up to a 30% reduction. Not bad I think.

It means I have to clean the greenware head, fire it in the kiln to bisque, and then make another mold off of the fired porcelain - just to shrink it's side! But the artist in me demands this size and the practical side of me agrees. I would rather do this instead of having to sculpt a new head and try to make it smaller.

Of course, when I finally get the doll the size I want, it means that I have to smash two casting molds instead of one since this doll will be a OOAK (One-Of-A-Kind) doll.

Now, if I could think of a way that wouldn't be too painful to shrink my hips, I really would be a magician *lol*.

Where do Moon Babies...

It was as House Mother Meerher and E'luminosity (Ellie) were walking the halls of the Luminary Council on their way to their next class of magical wand making when Ellie asked, "Meerher, have you noticed any changes in the realms since we have received our new Monacle Dragon?"

"You mean since the young Dragon, Dree accepted his new responsibilities to the realm and is now enhancing the magical energy to the many realms we watch over and protect?" the House Mother answered.

"Yes, " Ellie replied. "There seems a shift of new energy coming in which is understandable since he is a young Dragon (in Dragon' years). But it isn't just that," she continued.

"Oh, do you mean all the new fairy tales that have been manifesting in the many realms," Meerher replied. "Yes," Ellie answered. "I may be only a young Moonie, but I have never seen or even heard about this many new stories and tales coming to pass before."

"That my dear, is because we have had more new Moon babies being born now with the new Monacle guarding the Ancient Tree," Meerher sagely said.

Ellie stopped and stared at Meerher. "What does that have to do with anything?"

The wise Meerher nodded her head and replied, "When a moon baby is born..."
