At first, Aralt thought to just jump into the conversation and ask the two strangers what they were talking about and how did they know about the conversation with Siate', but then a doubt hit him!  "Did these people take my place while I was not with the Dragons all of these years?" he asked himself.  It had been a long time that the Dragons left the Realm of Wymsy.
"Had possibly Siate' and the other Dragons chosen another Herald to replace me  since I did not leave with them on their exodus?" Aralt thought.  "I need to listen to more of what they are saying," he decided before exposing himself to them.
As the two bakers continued to brew more Ambrosia, Aralt sat behind the rock and listened as they discussed the magics of Dragons and something about mis-enchantments.  Soon Aralt realized that somehow when the Dragons left the realm, they started to have magical wishes backfire and anyone within the range of the wish might disappear.  That was news!  Also, these bakers were with a group of SPIs (which Aralt had no idea what that meant), that had dedicated themselves to helping return the mis-enchanted.
Picture
Apparently the Ambrosia was the key, but in the time that he tried to overhear their conversation, he could not figure out how it worked.
When finally the Herald thought he had learned what he could, he quietly snuck back to the entrance of the cave and then turned around and started making as much noise as he could by calling out loudly if there was anyone home.  That brought the two bakers outside and to him where he figured he had the advantage and could watch both of them easier.
"Can I assist you?" asked the short heavy baker.  "I am Allspice and this is my friend, Nutmegg."
"I am looking for a young Dragon with the name of Dree.  Have you seen him or maybe know where he is?" asked Aralt.
Allspice and Nutmegg just stood and stared at Aralt saying nothing until the Herald realized that he had not introduced himself.  "I am Aralt," was all he said as he did not want them to know about his relationship with the Dragons.  What Aralt did not know was that Allspice had already seen him with Siate' and had already told Nutmegg.
Picture
"Ah, the young Dragon.  No, we do not know where he is.  Have you checked where he lives?" asked Nutmegg.  "He wasn't in the caves by the water where I first found him.  I must locate him and ask him some questions," answered Aralt.  After some more small talk, Aralt decided that he needed to find this 'Dree' before Siate' did.  So he left the two bakers and started off to continue his search.
When Aralt was out of site, Nutmegg turned to Allspice.  "Now we know where this 'Dree' lives.  I think I need to go check it out," Nutmegg said with a twinkle in his eyes.  "Are you good here to continue without me for a while?"  Allspice nodded and laughed.  He could always tell when "the detective bug" had hit Nutmegg.  "Go.  I will be fine," Allspice answered as he laughed again and headed back into the cave to start another batch of Ambrosia.

Even with the concerns for the future with the Dragons returning, the fall harvest was still gathered and the traditional harvest meal was being prepared.  This is a time for the folk who live in the Realm of Wymsy to come together and share in the bounty that was available to them both from the magics of the realm and what they had spent the seasons cultivating.
What was special about this year's celebration was that the Baron and his mother, the dowager Griselda, were hosting the Harvest Event at the Baron's Mansion.
As the Baron was discussing the seating arrangements with Snoop since both were nobility in their own ways, the dowager was directing their servants Fiddlefaddle and Sneefle in their duties.  "Now don't forget, today you will be serving our guests more than you will be catering to my son's or my needs," she reminded them over and over again.
Both of them just smiled as they were already well aware that they would have to keep an eye on the Baron and his mother.  Knowing that if they were happy with the event, then so would be the servants.  "Besides, after it is over I might even get a day off to put up my sore feet," thought Fiddlefaddle to himself.
Picture
Meanwhile, Granny Flare was busy in the kitchens in the back of the mansion making sure that everything would be ready for the feast.  As she checked each item as it was prepared, Gardner was bringing in the fresh vegetables and fruit that he had grown specially for just this occasion.  "Here is the last of it," he told Granny as he set the heavy crate down on the kitchen floor.  "Is there anything else you need brought in?" he asked as he stood besides a large boiling pot and enjoying the wonderous aroma that it was making.  Granny just smiled as she gave him a couple of the hot pumpkin spice cookies that had just come out of an oven and shooed him outside as she told him to come back in a couple of hours.  "By then I will know if I need anything else," she told him.
Picture
"Being a king doesn't seem to give to many benefits," thought Dulbbe as he was busy scrubbing the dirty pots and pans. Then just as soon as he was finished with them, Granny Flare would send someone over to take them so she could start cooking something else.  That someone was usually Queen Ffion who the Troll King had a crush on... "Well, there are a few perks," he told himself as he kept scrubbing with a little smile.
In the grand ballroom Efem, Cornelia, Parsley, and Nemmer were busy cleaning and setting up the decorations.  The dusty mytes were being extra careful (and under the watchful eye of Nemmer) to only suck in the dust as they cleaned instead of blowing any out.  "All we need is for them to make everyone forget today," Nemmer thought as he kept one eye on them while he was helping with the decorations.
And finally, there were many more helping outside in preparing for the arrival of those who were invited.  Since everyone in the Realm was on the guest list except for the Wysps  (who would show up invited or not if whoever held the leadership stick felt like it), that meant that a lot of chairs, tables, and tenting was needing to be setup.  Dewin, the wizard, was using his magic to have the folding chairs unfold and stand up where he directed while Scarlet was watching over the Nytemares as they dragged in the tables and large tents.
So, as all of those who live in the Realm of Wymsy prepare for this thanksgiving feast, we at MisPlace Dolls would like to thank all of you on this Thanksgiving Holiday as we come together to celebrate.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Drat's Cheezy Peezy Pasta

If it has cheese in it, Drat has to figure it was worth checking out.  He loved this recipe so much he even thought to share it with the Outie, Lesley.  Then of course, she had to put it on that Facebook thingy which then had people asking about how to make it.  Drat has many secrets but keeping recipes secret isn't one of them.  So if you also would like to see how this new dinner suggestion is made check it out below.
Ingredients:  1 Tbsp of virgin olive oil
                         1/4 cup of minced onions
                         1/2 lb of hamburger
                         1 tsp of minced garlic
                         2 tsps of Italian seasoning
(I used The Spice & Tea Exchange Greek Seasoning)
8 oz of rigatoni pasta noodles
4 oz of frozen chopped spinach
2 1/3 cups of chicken broth
                         3 oz of ricotta cheese
                         2 Tbsp of honey mustard
In a large skillet add oil, minced onions, and hamburger.  Cook until hamburger is no longer pink.  Drain of any grease and return to skillet to add garlic & Italian seasoning.
Add noodles and frozen spinach and then pour chicken broth over mixture.  Stir and bring to a low boil, then cover and reduce heat to a simmer.  Cook until noodles are al dente and most of the broth is absorbed.
Add the cheese and honey mustard.  Stir until cheese is melted while cooking over a low heat.  Service immediately, refrigerate any leftovers.  Serving for 2.  Enjoy!

Strangers in a Cave...

Picture
"I have checked the cave where I first met him and he's not there," grumbled Aralt to himself.  "And no one seems to have seen that small Dragon lately or they are not wanting to talk to me about where he might be."  Aralt had already walked around the village and had tried to find the Wysps that had helped him before.  He had even asked around if anyone has seen that rat friend of the Dragon's but still no luck in finding either.  "Even a little locating magic has been useless since Dragon's are immune to it," he grumbled again.
Finally, as his feet were sore from all of the walking (which he was still not used to doing as he was used to being carted around in a carriage and treated with honor... What Had This World Come To!!), the Herald decided to take a seat on a large, flat rock in front of a cave.  As he massaged his tired feet, he thought he heard some distant music.  "I wonder what the occasion is," he pondered as he turned his head in different directions to see if he could figure out where the music was coming from.  It didn't take long before he realized that the music was coming from the cave and it sounded like there might be more than one player.  "If it isn't the young Dragon, then maybe they will know where to find him," Aralt decided as he entered the cave.
Upon entering the dark entrance, the Herald waved his hand and a magical glowing light appeared.   "This should work," Aralt murmured as he followed the sound to the source of the music using the light to show his way.  As he approached and the music became louder he thought that he could see the path without stumbling.  Not wanting the players to see him he banished the light and slowly proceeded down the cave.  Hoping for answers and not wanting to scare away the musicians, Aralt slowly peered around a large rock to see who was there.
What he did see surprised him!  It was two guys cooking in what looked like a kitchen.  There was a cooking pot and a lot of crates of food items, but what Aralt hadn't expected was the floating utensils, the funnel that one of them was blowing through like a horn, a green glowing liquid bubbling in the cooking pot and two guys cooking without a grill!  While one was cooking, the other creature was looking in a bag that look like it had knitting in it.
Picture
"This is just getting stranger and stranger," muttered Aralt quietly so the others would not hear him.
As the Herald hid behind the rock and watched them, soon the music stopped playing and the one cooking clapped his hands and shouted "Ambrosia!"  Startled, Aralt jumped back from the rock, but luckily the others did not see him as their attention was on the green glowing liquid.
Picture
"Another batch of Ambrosia for the Dragons," Allspice told Nutmegg as the Hobb-goblyn put down his knitting to help pour the liquid from the cooling cauldron like pot into bottles and barrels for storage.  "I am glad that you are here," Allspice continued, "as it does make this easier than when I brew by myself."
"I have been thinking about what you told me, Allspice, and though the Ambrosia doesn't stop the Dragon's wishing power, do we really want to take away a Wish Dragon's ability to grant wishes?" asked Nutmegg.
Hearing that made Aralt freeze.  "What's this?" he thought.  He then tried to block out all the other sounds in the cave so he would not miss this revealing conversation.  Nutmegg continued.  "If their ability to grant wishes was taken away from them, then would we be able to restore those Fae lost due to mis-enchantments?  Also, I don't think there is a way to take away their power especially since they are immune to any magical spells and devices that we know of."
"That is what I thought at first, but if Siate' is worried about that young Dragon who said he is no longer a Wish Dragon, then there must be something behind it," answered Allspice.  "I agree, there is something of a mystery here," replied Nutmegg, "and you know that I love a good mystery who-dun-it."

The Gooblin King Hir’aeth had left his three ‘guests’ in the throne room while he contemplated this surprising offer.
Picture
“A Dragon’s favor is nothing to sneeze at,” he kept telling himself, but why would Dree offer such a thing for the trinket in the king’s pocket?  Taking it out and setting it on a table in his room, Hir’aeth opened the wrapping to look at the strange bauble once again.  “I don’t feel any magic in it and it isn’t very pretty,” thought the King as he kept trying to see what the down side of trading it to the Dragon could be…
Meanwhile, as Dree was waiting for the King’s answer, Drat and Arnie were still looking at him to try and figure out what he was doing.  As soon as the guards looked too bored to care about them, Drat slid up to the Dragon and whispered, “Do you have a plan or are you just winging it?”  Dree smiled as Drat said ‘winging it’ as their friendship was at the point that they could make subtle jokes about each other without the other being offended.  “Don’t get your tail into a trap” he whispered back as he winked at the rat.
Watching the two of them and seeing Drat now relaxing a little, Arnie decided that she too would trust Dree with their fate even knowing that the Gooblin King did not suffer ‘guests’ very long.  It was at that moment a door opened and Hir’aeth stepped out followed by a few more armed guards.  The confidence that had a moment before been with Drat and Arnie quickly fled.  “This can’t be good,” thought Drat as he quickly surveyed the room again for any possible escape routes.
Picture
“I have decided,” began the King looking directly at Dree, “but you must tell me how your favor would help me?”  The Dragon did not even blink before responding.  “I will help you obtain your greatest desire.”

That answer did surprise the King and even his guards were taken aback as they rarely saw their king surprised and now it had been twice in one day!
Picture
“What do you know about my greatest desire young one!  I have never told anyone what I want and now you tell me you will help me get it…  You have gone too far!”  With that statement the guards started to lower their spears and advance toward the three but before they could take more than a step, Dree answered, “Stone.”  Immediately the King signaled the guards to return to their stations.  All of this happened so fast that even though being quick and ready to flee was a specialty of the Troll King’s minion and the Borrower, Arnie was still trying to figure out what was Dree's plan while Drat was still looking for any escape route out of the room.
“How…” started the Gooblin King as he backed away from the Dragon to lower himself down in his throne.  Looking like all of the air had been knocked out of him, the Gooblin King took a couple of minutes just staring at Dree before he waived all of his personal guards away and told them not to let anyone into the room until he summoned them.  Quickly the only ones left were the King and his three guests.  “Do you all know my secret desire?” he asked them.  Drat and Arnie just looked at Dree to answer.
“No, your highness.  I have not told them nor anyone else.  It is a secret that currently only the two of us share, but their help will be needed in obtaining it.  They will have to know what it is if you agree to the trade,” replied Dree.  The King was going to trade the Dragon the strange bauble anyway, but now he was not concerned about the consequences of giving it to Dree.  “My greatest desire,” mumbled the King to himself as he tossed the object still wrapped in the rag to the Dragon and asked “I have hoped for so long.  When can we start?”

Nutmegg Arrives...

Picture
As the travel slug pulled up to the disembarkment area of the slugway, Nutmegg noticed that Allspice was standing there waiting for him.  At first Nutmegg's hot temper flared as he thought, "I don't need anyone to meet me.  I am not a weanling Hobb-goblyn after all."  But quickly he controlled his flash temper by remembering that he did not know the way to where SPICE had set up their kitchens to mix the Dragon's Ambrosia and it was only logical for Allspice to be there.
"Sometimes feelings conflict with logic," he told himself as he repeated his 'knit one, purl two' mantra to keep his anger in check.
By the time that Allspice saw Nutmegg and approached, Nutmegg had his temper in check and realized that he actually was a little glad to see the leader of SPICE.  "How was your trip?" Allspice asked as he helped Nutmegg with his baggage.  After the usual banter about delays and overcrowding, they both started their walk to the caves where the SPICE kitchens were being set up.  "I wanted to meet you when you arrived so I can also bring you up to speed on what is going on in this realm and an update on the Wish Dragon activity," said Allspice.
Only nodding his head to acknowledge he was listening, Nutmegg waited for his leader to continue.  "I've been thinking as I waited for you and realized the best way to start is to tell you that I have found out that this realm is the home to the Wish Dragons.  They started here," said Allspice.  Now this revelation surprised the Hobb-goblyn enough to blurt out before thinking "Why did they return now?"
Picture
Allspice laughed and told him, "If I knew the answer to that, we might be going home especially if I thought they were going to stay here and quit causing mischief with those mis-enchantments.  As SPIs, that is probably the first thing we need to find out."
While Nutmegg was mulling over that answer, Allspice continued.  "This land is overall the Realm of Wymsy which also includes the Shadows' Realm and several other outer lands.  There is a mix of Fae and the mundanes that the Fae call 'Outies' for the 'Outies' do not possess magic.  They, for the most part, live together peacefully and work together.  The usual prejudices don't seem to be too prevalent, just the irritation of some of the usual nature of different races.  For example, almost everyone gets grouchy over the Pyksee and Wysp antics for practical jokes."
This slightly surprised the Hobb-goblyn who was used to others not accepting his race.  "May this won't be such a bad assignment after all," Nutmegg thought.
Picture
"Back to the why the Dragon's came home.  Their Herald, Aralt was here to greet Siate' when they returned.  The main group of Dragons have not yet revealed themselves to the locals.  What they are waiting for, I don't know, but Siate' and Aralt have meet with a group of both Fae and Outies.  One big surprise was that a young Dragon was already here and the two of them were surprised when he introduced himself.
Afterwards I heard Aralt and Siate' discussing one of the remarks made at that meeting with the young Dragon.  It had to do with taking away a Wish Dragon's wishing ability."
As Nutmegg silently was thinking about what he had heard up to that point, the last line of Allspice's update threw all of those thoughts out of his head!  "Take away a Wish Dragon's ability to grant wishes?  Can that be done?" Nutmegg asked before he realized that if Allspice knew, they would have already done it to stop the Wish Dragons from casting more mis-enchantments.
"That's something we need to think about and figure out how we are going to find out more about this young Dragon.  I have found out he goes by the name of 'Dree'," Allspice said as they arrived to the caves where they would finish setting up their kitchen and temporary homes in this Realm of Wymsy.

Oh Purl!!!

Picture
"Oh, Purl!"  thought Nutmegg,  "This is why I hate to travel.  No matter how much I double check, I still feel like I must have forgotten to pack something. But as long as I have my knitting I know I can handle things,"  Nutmegg reminded himself.
Which then brought a small chuckle to his lips as he thought over some of his favorite knitting quotes such as 'I knit because punching people is frowned upon' or better yet, some of the knitting jokes he had recently heard.
He had heard through the Mushroom Line about a Dragon in this new realm where he was traveling to that liked to collect jokes.  Nutmegg memorized a few so he wouldn't forget them.  Like, 'What did the yarn say to the needle? - You got me in stitches!' or one of his favorites, 'What do you call a detective who knits? - Sherlock Woolmes'.  For yes, Nutmegg was also a great reader of who-dun-it books by the Outies... well, actually anything he could get his hands on to read but he enjoyed who-dun-its the most.
Breath in - slowly breath out - while all the time repeating "Knit one, Purl two" in his head to keep calm since he had missed his last connection.  When he finally was calm, Nutmegg walked over to the newly posted schedule hanging on the wall of the subterrain slugway.  The next travel slug should be showing up any minute now so he could get on his way to meet up with Allspice.
Double checking one more time,  "Yep, my hat is on.  My handwarmers are doing their job of keeping my knitting fingers nimble and though I am not excited about taking on this new job, it is what I have to do," Nutmegg reminded himself.
"Though, maybe I should have thought to buy some new shoes.  But I'll take comfort over style any day and I haven't had time to knit myself some new socks while trying to get ready for this new job," Nutmegg chided himself.
Picture
For he knew that all Dragons weren't necessarily evil but the Wish Dragons were a huge problem to affected everyone which is why he signed up to be a SPICE (Stewards Preventing Imperfectly Casted Enchantments) agent.
Picture
"Ahhh!  The slug is showing up," Nutmegg muttered to himself.  This was one of his favorite ways to travel because eventually he would always arrive when he was suppose to - no matter where he was heading.  But also it was slow enough that he could take out his knitting needles and get a few rows done while traveling.  "Let this adventure begin," Nutmegg said as he climbed into his seat while pulling out his favorite color of yarn.

Drat and Dree were bored out of their minds...
Picture
"I can't take too much more of this," Drat whispered to Dree as they stood away from the Gooblin King and the Borrower.  "How can they talk so much about little things?" Dree asked the Troll King's minion not really expecting an answer.  "We have searched seven treasure rooms already and it sounds like that is just the tip of the things that Hir'aeth has collected over the years.  Being a former Borrower turned Finder - Arnie wants to admire everything.  This search for the book will take forever!"
It probably was because Arnie being a Borrower where sparkly things caught her attention was why her and the Gooblin King were getting along so well.  After Hir'aeth showed them the first treasure room with Arnie bouncing around with excitement the Gooblin king had started to soften up.  He even actually enjoyed telling the Borrower about how he had retrieved each piece of treasure.  This had gone on for six more rooms of stuff!
It was as they were leaving to go to treasure vault number eight when Dree heard the whisper.  At first it was as if a breeze had blown past his sensitive ears, caressing them with magic, but since there were no winds in the treasure rooms, Dree decided that it must be something else.  As the others started down the hall to the next room, Dree paused for a minute and turned his head from side to side to see if he could pick up the 'feeling' of where the breeze was coming from.  THERE!
It was coming from treasure room eight's doorway that the Gooblin King had just opened.  Hurrying to catch up to the others, Dree tried to figure out some way to let Drat know that something was in there.
Picture
By the time he was in the treasure room, Arnie and Hir'aeth were already opening a chest and the Gooblin King was pulling out what was inside.  "This one I got when that old troll Druzzy got turned around in a cave somewhere in the Dragon Mountains a long time ago.  I had changed one of the rock signs that had  him going in the wrong direction long enough for me to find this trunk and get it away."  Turning his head and looking at Drat, he continued, "You were with him, Drat, on that hunt.  I made sure that you had found the wrong map so I would have the time to find the treasure first," he snickered as he went back to showing the contents of the trunk off to Arnie.  Drat, peering over the trunk lid, saw the real map had now been placed into the trunk after the treasure had been found.
"This is IT!" thought Dree as Hir'aeth kept pulling things out of the battered looking trunk.  Finally, when a bundled cloth rag came out of the trunk did the Moon Dragon feel the "knowing" that they had found what they were searching for.
Picture
Tickling his mind a voice spoke: "Master... You have returned to claim me," Dree heard clearly this time.  "I am yours to command."  At first Dree did not know what to do.  "How am I to get this from the Gooblin King?" he thought.  No sooner did the question pop into his head than just as suddenly an answer was given.  "Tell the Gooblin King that you will owe him a favor.  You are the only one that can hear me," the voice continued in Dree's head.
"Since he cannot hear me, he will think the trade is well worth it as he is giving you a trinket for a much greater prize.  Tell him that you will help him on his greatest hunt.  It is a search for his secret most desired item that he has never told anyone about.  Just say 'stone' when he asked what do you know about what he desires most," the voice whispered.  As the bundled rag with the item in it was going back into the chest, Dree realized that he needed to act now.
"Ahem.  Great King, are you willing to make a trade for something here in your treasure room that I have found interesting?  Whatever that bauble is that you are putting back into the chest for a Dragon's favor?" asked Dree.
Both Drat and Arnie were now interested more in what Dree was doing than what they had been just looking at.  Dree did not look at either of them but instead kept his gaze on Hir'aeth.  Now a favor from a Dragon was a powerful thing and the Gooblin King knew this, but what could be in this bundled rag that the Dragon would want that badly.
"Let's go back to my throne room and discuss this offer of yours young Dragon.  I am interested to hear your proposal," the Gooblin King said as he put the wrapped treasure into his pocket and closed the lid.  As soon as the trunk was secured, he started out of the treasure room and they all started the trek back to the throne room with the guards following.  "I wonder what is wrapped up in that rag," was the thought running through all four of their minds.

As Arnie and the others followed the Gooblin King to his treasure room, others in the Realms were busy following their own plans…
Picture
As Allspice was pulling together more of his ingredients to make a fresh batch of ambrosia, the conversation that he had overhead between Aralt and Siate’ kept traveling through his mind.  “Why would anyone want to take away a Wish Dragon’s wishing ability?” was the question he just could not get rid of.  Somehow, as the leader of SPICE (Stewards Preventing Imperfectly Casted Enchantments), he knew that if he had the answer then maybe he would be able to return more of the mis-enchanted.  “Maybe when Nutmegg shows up we can figure this out,” he decided as he continued checking his ingredients…
“Another bucket of Moonflowers,” thought Scarlet as he poured them into the feeder trough.  “The way these Nytemares eat, I think we should harvesting these things and putting them into stacks.”  That thought made Scarlet smile since he also knew that just one flower would cause most everyone else to fall asleep even before they could touch one.  “The only other one that can pick them other than myself and Sneefle would have to be a Dragon,” Scarlet realized.  “Maybe that is why we are having a shortage.”  It was then that he realized the meaning of why the flowers were disappearing in the patches.  “I must tell the Queen!” as he dropped the now empty bucket and started off on a run to the palace…
Picture
Meanwhile, The Baron waited for his mother, the Dowager Griselda, to finish listening to the Flutterby’s message from Queen Ffion before asking her if she wanted more tea.  Before he could speak, she picked up her empty teacup and told her son as he filled her cup and that she had a message for him.
Picture
Once the cup was filled and the Baron took a seat, Griselda spoke.  “I have just received a message from Ffion.  She is reporting that she is sure the Dragons are in the realm unless Sneefle has gone on a flower binge.  The Nytemares are not the ones picking the Moonflowers and if it is not Sneefle, then that only leaves a Dragon responsible.”
Surprised, the Baron took a minute as he thought what Ffion’s message meant before responding.
“That means that not only Siate’ has arrived, but the other Dragons must be hiding somewhere in the realm.  Why don’t they show themselves?”  This was the same question Griselda was pondering…
And deep within the cave, Aralt knew not to say anything when Siate’ was in a snit as she was now.
The She-Dragon was not happy with the way things were going and these many delays.  “I thought by now I would have some more things in place!  Where is that young Dragon and what did he mean by ‘was of the Wish Dragon clan’?  He is not a stupid as you thought!” she finished as she glared at Aralt thinking that these delays were all his fault.  “Herald, bring him to me!”  Aralt knew better than to argue as he turned and left the cave secretly smiling at her frustrations…
