He certainly has the nose for sniffing out a good story since he seems to be in the middle of anything and everything. Maybe that is why everyone just calls him "Snoop"...

Augustus, the Earl of Grey, is an impoverished Earl who lives in the Village. His title was bestowed upon him for a courageous act to the King. It is assumed that it had something to do with saving a ship load of the King's tea (otherwise why the Earl of Grey?), but that is only rumor.
Since his fortunes have turned with the rest of the village, his only income (that we know of) is from his newspaper, the Bellwether.
