It all started but a few weeks ago. Traditionally this time of year, I like doing some of the rituals of my youth. It began with me blowing on a seedling dandelion and making my ‘Wish’ as I did of old. Then I felt a tug! If anyone can figure out why I would be having these feelings, it would be Belvedere with all of his worldly travels and experiences.
The ‘tug’ isn’t very strong, more of an annoyance actually. Normally this feeling would come when a wish had connected to a Wish Dragon.
With my son’s return to the Mansion, I guess I might as well return too. He and I have much to discuss as I have been feeling this strange ‘summoning’ type of feeling which I have not experienced for many, many, many years.
As a child, I was given the Wish Dragon sign to wear on my hand. My clan was selected from the Village to be the Wish Dragon Guardians and Nurturers. In some ways we failed, as the Wish Dragons disappeared many, many years ago and I still wish I knew why. That is why my heart is confused as I know they don’t exist anymore.
Now, I am off to find my son and to see what it is that is calling me...
Griselda is in the process of getting dressed. With so many details that go into presenting oneself, while we are waiting, I thought I would share a little bit about her.
Griselda was born in a 'Wish'. How can something or someone be born "in a" wish? Well, according to Webster's Dictionary, a wish is to have a desire for something. I saw something that sparked a desire within me, and my wish (Griselda) was born.
An interesting fact about Griselda is that she lived when the Dragons were plenty in her land. There were many different types and each type had a special magic. Some Dragons could disappear, others could find missing items that had been lost, but the most special Dragons (according to Griselda), were the Wish Dragons.
They were plentiful around the Village when she was a little girl and she remembers the power they wielded. She still believes in the magic of a 'Wish', though now she is older than the star dust in the sky.
She still clearly can remember the day when she received the tattoo of the Wish Dragon on her hand. It was a very important symbol and distinguished her and her clan apart from the other Villagers. Just as she proudly wears the symbol of her past, she knows the power of the 'Wish', and how it is connected to the Wish Dragons.
In her youth, Griselda helped the Wish Dragons in granting wishes. The problem with a wish, is that sometimes the one making the wish is not really clear as to what they desire (and to a Dragon that takes things very literal, it can create a multitude of troubles). Anyone can make a wish, but the knowledge of how to answer the true desire behind the wish and avoid creating more problems is how Griselda and her clan helped the dragons.
Soon Griselda will be ready to present herself, and then she can tell you more of her story... I just wish she would hurry up!
Even as much as I love porcelain, it does have it’s limits. Since porcelain is a liquid clay, making a mold is required for everything I sculpt. I prefer the translucent glow and the satin like feeling which porcelain offers. The downside is that there is only so much dimension I can sculpt in clay. In every piece I sculpt, the math and an analyzation is made - "Can this piece be pulled out of a plaster mold?".
So why all the trouble and hassle? Because that is the beauty of art. Art challenges and causes me to go outside of my comfort zone. For if it was easy, I wouldn't grow.
At this point, the Baron thinks it might be a good idea to discover just what is going on beneath his mansion. Of course that includes dragging along Fiddlefaddle, his faithful but sometimes grumpy manservant, whether he wants to or not.
"Is that okay? Granny Flare and the Baroness said I could stay here and that I should because I am a secret," replied the Dragon.
"Of course you can. I hope you and I will become close friends. Now, are you HUNGRY?"
Welcome to my blog. This is where I will reveal the magic of my Fae and their stories and share with you some of the success and pitfalls through the journey of doll making, sculpting, and other crafts that all come back to my dolls in many ways.
