The requirement for the competition is to complete a piece of art that reflects an emotion. Gardner, my garden Brownie, has a toothy smile that hopefully makes one just smile when looking at him. Creating his toothy smile took me outside of my comfort zone. This is what art will do for me, take me to some unknown space to explore and discover… all within the safety of my own home and personal space.
Sometimes it is hard to create a happy face in my art. It reflects a part of my soul yet to be found. I have to dig deep down within and see if I am willing to look at that part of me that wants to stay hidden in the Dark. I once read that it takes just as much energy to smile as it does to frown. That being the case, then I choose to laugh/smile. I need to peel away the vines and roots that have me tied up in old concepts/thoughts. I choose to pull out the weeds (ideas I no longer need), clear the grounds, and plant that big toothy smile in place. Let that smile be over the top! A big laugh in the face of whatever might hold me back from reaping the ideas and art hidden within my soul. |
Now I am ready for winter to be over and spring to arrive...
