As the crystal holding the Shadows' King, Hungry, and The CAT begins to crack more, allowing the blue haze to dissipate into the air, the others outside the crystal abruptly stopped singing with even a few starting to step back away from the collapsing crystal.  "What is happening to them?" whispered Arnie loud enough for  Goodie2shues to hear.
"This is where we see if the recipe is right," answered the Goodie sister, "and if all goes well, the Wish Dragon will have undergone a transformation.  This is rare and if enough magic is not released to finish the recipe, then the mixture will fail."
It was then that enough of the haze had disappeared that everyone could see what was happening inside the egg.  Both Hunter and The CAT were standing near the Wish Dragon, but the little Dragon had changed.  Hungry had grown and turned blue!  From the top of his head to the bottom of his claws - even his eyes were now a shade of blue.  As most were looking at Hungry, it was the Goodie sisters that noticed the small magical portal opening behind the Dragon.  "It will need more magic," each of the Goodie Sisters thought, but it would take more than they possessed to finish the transformation.
It was then that Dulbbe looked at Ffion and realized she was still glowing blue from the Goodies magic - the same color as the Wish Dragon.  With his time in the Shadows King library and listening to the green Dragon orb, he suddenly put some of the pieces of this puzzle together.  "No," he uttered as he rushed to her side.  "You can't do this!"  This act did not go unnoticed by the Shadows' King.
Picture
He had been watching Ffion through the crystal egg and already saw that his beloved daughter was approaching closer to the egg with the blue lights glowing around her.  It was the time for him to act or lose his daughter forever.  There had never been a choice, he knew what he must do.  Stepping to the edge of the crystal egg, he started pushing his magic into it!  Slowly, as as his magic swirled around in a circle, it began to expand... larger... and larger... and finally large enough to reach his hand through it.
"Daughter, a young fae sacrificed herself to give magic to the dragons, I will not have you do the same," pleaded the King to Ffion.  He reached out his hand taking hers.  As soon as that happened the blue lights flowed into Hunter's hand turning him blue.
"Hungry," Hunter told the Wish Dragon, "The Portal requires magic for magic.  This was what was required for the young fae that first gave her magic to the dragons and why I told you the tale.  When I step through the portal it will finish your transformation and begin your destiny.  If I don't, you and the magic in the Realm will perish!"
Picture
At first Hungry was scared.  It was The CAT that saved the day.  "Come'on... If you perish, I'll be out of a job," said The CAT to Hungry as he took the Dragon's paw.  Suddenly there was a small commotion outside the egg that occurred in the crowd.  It was Druzzy, the Troll King!  He was clutching his crown, trying to hold it on to his head, though he looked like he was being pulled by it as if it was trying to enter the egg.
"Ah, that's where the Dragon tablet went," thought Dulbbe as he stood behind Ffion's with one hand keeping her from going to the portal.  For when the portal appeared, she had been slowly pulled towards it.  If it wasn't for Dulbbe holding her back while the King held her hand, by this point she too might have entered it with the Dragon.
"No!  You can't have it!" yelled Druzzy.  "I need it for my revenge," he screamed as he continued to cling to his crown with the Dragon tablet hidden inside as it pulled him towards the egg.  Even the Gooblin King was startled by what was happening.  "Let it go Druzzy," hollered Hir'aeth.  "It's just a thing... let it go!"  Glaring at the Gooblin King, Druzzy just smiled as he continued to clutch his crown, "Don't you wish.  I will win this round!"  It was then that three things happened all in a blink of a Dragon's eye.  The Shadows' King let go of Ffion's hand and with a wave pulled the Dragon tablet towards him.  He then stepped through the portal with the tablet following him... with a Troll King still holding on while the crystal egg shattered in a bright glittering glow like fireflies dancing in the evening.  As Druzzy was being pulled into the portal, grabbing anything to stop the pull of the King, he grabbed The CAT's tail which pulled the CAT in as well.
As Ffion watched her father, she saw him giving her one final look as he whispered "I love you" as the blinding flash occurred.
When everyone could see again, standing alone where the crystal once was, is Hungry, the Wish Dragon... but no longer a Wish Dragon as he has completed the transformation.  The Shadows' King had said that when Hungry ate the blue rose he would no longer be hungry and now he wasn't.  He was now a Moon Dragon, the rarest and most powerful Dragon that ever lived.

The CAT'S Tail...

We know what was happening outside - but what was happening inside of the crystal?  When the Goodie sisters had run off with Ffion to their cottage to begin the ritual and the others who were at the great transformation were staring at the large crystal in the garden wondering where Hunter, the Shadows' King, and Hungry, the Wish Dragon had disappeared too - The King and Hungry were keeping each other company inside the egg.
"Hungry," Hunter whispered to the little dragon, "Don't be afraid as I am here to help you."  The king continued, "First, let me tell you a story about how dragons got their terrific powers... where it all started..."  As the Shadows' King told Hungry how a Nyte Shade had given her powers to her dragon friend he also was trying to keep the Dragon calm so that he would not realize that the two of them were subtly changing and trapped inside of a large crystal.  As the tale was being told, the Troll King, Druzzy, was standing by a tree and thinking of ways to get out of the garden with the Dragon tablet he had hidden under his crown.
"The power this tablet has," thought Druzzy.  "If it can even make the Shadows' King disappear and a Dragon, I can't wait to use it for my revenge!"  Most everyone else in the garden was still looking at the crystal and wondering what the Goodie sisters were up to, but not everyone.  Dulbbe had noticed that the Dragon tablet was no longer where it was supposed to be.  "It has to be with either the Troll King or the Gooblin King, no one else would  have taken it," Dulbbe thought to himself.
Picture
Dulbbe the Shadows King's scribe
The problem was he did not know which one did and a lowly bookkeeper does not accuse a King of taking something.  "I will have to make sure neither leave with it before this is over," he realized.  Making sure of how to do that was simple he quickly decided.  Walking over to the Gooblin King he whispered, "Did you notice how King Druzzy keeps looking around.  I wonder what he is up to."  This started the Gooblin King to watch the Troll King even more than normal.  "Now all I have to do is keep an eye on the Gooblin King," thought Dulbbe, "since then he will be watching the Troll King."
By the time Hunter finishes his tale to Hungry,  the Goodies had returned and were beginning their ritual with Ffion and The CAT.  It is then that the Wish Dragon realized he was trapped inside of a crystal cocoon surrounded in a blue mist.  At first startled, he stood up hitting his head.  That is when the crack appeared throwing off the Goodie's spell and causing the release of the blue ooze.   "Ouch!" Hungry yelled as he reached for the top of his head.  Trying not to smile, Hunter took one of Hungry's hands and told him to relax.  "This crystal shell will not last much longer. Look, there is already a crack in it," Hunter said as he pointed to the crack.  As they were looking at it, something else started to appear inside of the crystal with them.  Whatever it was looked like it had been stretched quite thin and shoved through the small crack.  As they both moved back as far as they could, The CAT appeared (not looking too pleased ) in front of them.  "I don't ever want to do that again!" The CAT growled when he fully materialized.
Happy that his Spite was with him, Hungry moved up to give The CAT a hug.  Too surprised to get away, The CAT let the Wish Dragon hug him (but only briefly) before telling him that was enough.  "Not in front of the King," he whispered in Hungry's ear as he was being squeezed.
Hunter only watched them, trying to hide his sad smile, before either saw it.  "If things go right, then you two will be both be changed forever," thought the King.  Also knowing that if things did not go right, all of them would be changed forever but not in a way each would have liked...
Outside of the crystal and in the garden, Ffion, the Goodie sisters, and Hewy have joined hands as Hewy begins to sing.  Soon, the others joined the circle and as the music became louder, everyone was holding hands and singing as they circled the large blue glowing crystal.  Even Druzzy had to join in as Hir'aeth had grabbed his hand so he could not disappear.
Inside the crystal, The CAT, having the keenest of hearing, all of a sudden perked up his ears.  "Do you hear that?" he asked the others.  Before they could answer he continued, "Hewy is singing."  In a minute all three of them could hear the singing since it no longer was just Hewy.  "It sounds like a whole bunch of Twitter Birds," thought the Dragon and he soon was tapping his foot to the beat of the music.  Things were going along smoothly until Hungry accidently tapped too hard - on The CAT's tail!  Leaping into the air, The CAT startled Hungry who stood up completely and again hit his head on the crystal ceiling in their cocoon causing the crack to start getting even bigger and spreading.
Picture
"Now it either begins or ends..." thought Hunter as the crystal cocoon started to crumble and the blue haze around the hidden inner portal dissipated out the crack.  For the King knew that it was going to take all of his power to help the Wish Dragon transform into his destiny.  Just as told in the tale of old, a sacrifice would need to be made.  But could the King do what was required of him?

A Spell Goes Wrong...

"Oh!  I see the missing ingredient!"  shouts out Goodiegood as she starts running after it.  The Goodie sisters and Ffion had just arrived back in the Shadow's King garden after having left the Nytemares to Scarlet to take back to the stables.  Ffion was still glowing blue from the ritual they had performed on her back at their cottage and the others were still standing around in the garden now staring at Ffion in amazement.
"We need to hurry!" replied Goodieg2shues.  "Go grab him!"
"Him???  Him who," thought The CAT who had been prowling around the edge of the garden, wondering about the magical mayhem that was going on here.  He had felt the energy shift and no longer could feel Hungry, the little Wish Dragon.  Being the Spite of a Wish Dragon was still a new experience for The CAT.  It took another Spite, Sprigg'n Mac-talla, to teach him that as a Spite he was supposed to watch out and help (well maybe not quite as much) keep his Dragon out of trouble.  Again, wondering why he could not feel Hungry, is when Goodiegood ran up to him and grabbed his paw.
Goodiegood looked into The CAT's eyes and said, "Hungry needs you now like never before.  You are that missing ingredient.  We can't save him without you."
"Do WHAT???" replied The CAT.
"You are Hungry's Spite and we need you to help finish the ritual we began with Ffion at the cottage.  You are all connected,"  Goodiegood answered.
As The CAT was deciding, Goodie4U is shouting over all the chatter that the rest of the crowd is making in their confusion of trying to understand what is happening.  Only one is not saying anything, Druzzy, the Troll King.  He has been standing in the background trying to figure a way out of the garden without anyone noticing him leave since he was still hiding the forgotten Dragon tablet under his crown.  "I have got to get this tablet away from here," he was telling himself.  "The power it will give me!"
"We need to finish this ritual that began with the Dragon tablet and the Shadows' King before it's too late.  Hewy, you know the music you need to sing.  Feel it inside and let it flow around us."
Goodiegood directed Ffion, her sisters, and The CAT to stand around the Crystal Egg.  As they joined hands, the egg started to crack a little more.  "Hurry Hewy with the music, it will calm the beast inside," Goodiegood yelled back to the Troll who was still trying to figure out what he would sing.
When the sisters joined hands with Ffion and The CAT, the blue light that had been glowing around Ffion started leaving her hands.  It glowed and flowed around the egg like a snake circling around it's prey.  Up and around, always moving, curling around until the crystal explodes into a blast of blue light.  "Oh No!" exclaims Goodie2shues looking at Goodiegood.  "Our spell has gone wrong!" replied Goodiegood.
Picture
"The blue ooze is chaos," yelled Goodiegood as her ears were still ringing from the spell exploding, "and if it spreads it will contaminate the others and turn them into crazy mad creatures!"
"There must be some way to fix this!" Goodie2shues yelled back.  "Where is Goodie4U?"  she continued.
Since Goodie4U is the sister who knows "what" is going to happen when she is 'seeing'... do you think she might have cooked up a way of fixing this???

The Crack of Doom...

As Goodiegood rushed into the Shadows' King's garden she spied the first small group of gathers there "Are we late?"  Knowing that her and her sister's powers would be needed, even if they were late for the beginning of the Dragon's transformation, they were where they needed to be now.

Looking around the garden she saw the Sleeping Sister, Awena, standing by Griselda, the Dowager, with their heads bent together in quiet conversation.
Off to one side was Hewy, the Troll,  who was busy giving the Gooblin King, Hir'aeth, the evil eye as the Gooblin King wondered to himself where had Druzzy, the Troll King, snuck off too?  Efem, the Tree Mother, was huddled with Dewin by a small bench and waving her hands in the air trying to make a point as she tried to get his complete attention. While Dewin was trying also to see where the Troll King had wondered off as well as try to keep one ear open to listen to Efem.
Things were certainly tense and confusing.  It was then, as Goodiegood was looking around at everyone, that she noticed the large crystal-like egg in the the middle of the garden.  "I doubt that has been here very long," she asked without expecting much of an answer.  She realized what it was as she looked closer seeing something blue swirling around inside of it.
Turning to her sisters she said, "It looks like what we feared has happened.  The Prophesy has begun with the Last Wish Dragon being lost.  Now we must find out who sacrificed their magic for this to have happened."  As the three sisters started looking around the garden to see who might be missing from the vision they had earlier, Goodie2shues finally hollered to the crowd, "Everyone! We don't have much time so listen up!  We need to talk to Ffion or the Shadows' King.  Does anyone know where they are?"
As the crowd stopped what they were doing and all looked at the Goodie sister, it was the Dowager who spoke first.  "Ffion was rushed out of the garden by the King's scribe, Dulbbe, when the King and Hungry vanished!"
Picture
When the Dowager finished, Goodie4u mumbled loud enough for only her sisters to hear, "Now we know who sacrificed their power, as the King and Ffion being Nyte Shades are the only two beings strong enough to give up their power and not be swayed by the Darkness or Greed."  Realizing that speed was now needed, Goodie2shues spoke again to the crowd.  "We need to speak to Ffion immediately!  The Realm depends on it!"
Picture
All of a sudden, a loud 'CRACK' echoed in the garden startling those standing next to the large egg-like crystal.  Goodiegood looked at her sisters with concern in her eyes.  "Goodie2shues, you go and grab Ffion!  Goodie4u, get Scarlet to ready the Nytemares," she continued as she pointed to the King's Farrier.  "You both know what we need!  Time is the most important thing now and we don't have any to waste!"
As her sisters disappeared, Goodiegood quietly mumbled to herself, "The best thing we can do now is get Ffion back to our place so we can whip up our 'Surrogare' recipe before this egg fully hatches.  The Ntyemares are the best choice to fly us home in time."
As the other two sisters flew off to do her bidding, Goodiegood thought about trying to explain to Awena and the Dowager what was happening, but there just wasn't enough time.  All she could do was shout out "Trust ME!" as she ran to follow her sisters.

The Royals and their Minions...

While Dulbbe is following up with the address tag on the key he found in the tunnel to see who this Arnie is, Drat, with his connections, has already figured out who has the Dragon book and is waiting at Arnie's home.  "Oh no!  There is Dulbbe.  Why is he coming here?" Drat thinks to himself.  "Is the Shadows' King  now involved too?  This tablet is moving up to how important it really is," sighs Drat.
Meanwhile, Druzzy, the Troll King, and Hir'aeth, the Gooblin King, are both in their throne rooms wondering why they have not heard back from their minions.  "I must have that tablet," mutters Druzzy to himself and not for the first time grumbles about replacing Drat if he doesn't show up soon.  Hir'aeth, on the other hand, is thinking of ways to embarrass Druzzy by getting the book first.  "I can picture the look on that stupid Druzzy's face when I get that Dragon tablet. Wonder what would happen if I was to then give it away to that little Wish Dragon, Hungry?" chuckles the Gooblin King.  "It will be bad enough for me to get it first, but even worse to give it away... old Troll face will be burning red!"
As the others are out looking for the Borrower with the Dragon tablet, still others are stuck waiting for answers and some of them were not waiting very patently with their tempers  fraying just a little...
"This is driving me crazy," growls Ffion as she paces the throne room waiting for Dulbbe to return with some news.  "Dad has gone and locked himself up in the library with some stupid crystal ball and I have to stay here waiting for anyone to return with news. I might just  have to start training some minions myself since Dulbbe is one of Dad's."
Picture
While Ffion is wearing out the tiles from her pacing, Hunter, the Shadows' King, is in room 101 of the library seeking the crystal ball that Dulbbe had just recently discovered.  Hunter is so concern about losing the Dragon tablet and that a Borrower is now involved, that he is distracted enough not to realize that the green cloth that normally covered the crystal is now laying on a nearby table.  "Where is that tablet?" the King muttered to himself.  Since the crystal was uncovered it responded with "Your question is incomplete.  What knowledge to you seek?"...
Speaking of Dulbbe, he found his way to the address that he discovered on the back of the key tag and was now waiting at the door after knocking several times.  "The Borrower must not have returned yet," he realized.  Soon he decided to hide behind a bunch of bushes to wait for the Borrowers so he could catch Arnie when she returned.  Little did he realize that close-by another minion had also been watching the Borrower's cottage and was now watching Dulbbe too.
Picture
"Hmmm.  Now it appears another is in the game.  The problem is do I tell Druzzy?" pondered Drat, the Troll King's minion.  "At first I thought the King only wanted the book to brag about, but lately he has been acting stranger than usual."  As Drat was used to waiting for a King, waiting for a Borrower to return home was not a problem.  Taking a small sandwich out of his knapsack, he ate silently while watching both the cottage and the rock troll hiding in the bushes.  "I must remember next time to pack cheese sandwiches instead of sticky jelly ones," he idly thought before taking another bite.
While Drat sat and ate, the Troll King was plotting what he would do when the Dragon tablet was finally delivered to him.  "That stupid Gooblin King's eyes will bulge when he sees that I have the tablet.  Finally I will have the power to destroy him!" laughed Druzzy.  "The power it will give me will make me the ruler over all of these realms as I know one thing that Hir'aeth doesn't.  The tablet is supposed to be the secret of Dragon magic and with that, I will be Ruler Supreme," Druzzy said as he smiled.  "I am a busy troll as I have an Empire to create and pillars to topple."

The Winter Solstice Party...

12/21/2021

Picture
"Leave it to Hunter to be unpredictable.  Here we should be having a little tea party and he turns it into the event of the season," growled the Dowager as she rode in a coach on the way to the Winter Solstice event.  "Discussing the finding of a Dragon tablet doesn't make this meeting with Hungry any easier either.  Now everyone will want to see him!
At least the King sent one of his Nytemares to pull my coach."  As horses are few in the Realms, when a Nytemare is willing to take you somewhere - it is only because they wanted to or the Shadows' Realm King commands them to.  Griselda was being given an extra treat, being able to ride in one of the King's coaches.  "It is nice not to have to walk," she thought.  "But he still is going to get an earful about this!"
As the Dowager traveled and was going over in her mind what she was going to say to the Shadows' King, little did she realize that the coach was being watched.  Actually, all approaches to the King's castle were being watched!  But by whom (or what) is the real question.
Each of the other Kings had their minions out scouting for any clues to the secrets of the Dragon tablet but as of yet, no one had seen the Borrowers.  Drat had several of the Troll King's minions watching the trails through the forest (and of course following the Gooblin King's minions) while the Gooblin King had his minions watching the Troll King's minions.  He had even put his mechanical bird to the task as it was to continuously fly over Hunter's castle to watch for any unexpected arrivals.
Picture
But with all of these minions on the lose, no one thought to check with Meen to see the invited guest list.  Of all the guests she had delivered an invitation to, one was skipped over...  No, it was not Hungry (as he had already arrived the day before the party so he could visit with Meen and see the Nytemares).  It wasn't Snoop who already was sitting next to the entrance doors to the ballroom so he could keep a list of all of the attendees for the morning edition of the Bellwether.
Picture
Neither was it The Gooblin King and Troll King who were trying to be polite to each other (and it was killing both of them).
Picture
Nor was it the Baron who was presenting the Dowager to the Shadows' King while trying to hide his grin since he knew how mad she was that her little private tea party plan had become a huge event.  It seemed everyone who was someone was there except... the Borrowers!
Now, why Meen had not added them to the invitation list would probably be based on the Borrower's history.  Anytime a Borrower showed up anywhere, they had the habit of 'borrowing' something.  It was worse at parties!  So much bling and things to see, that they just could not keep their hands in their own pockets.  Forks, knives, spoons, small furry animals, even shoes were known to have disappeared when the Borrowers appeared.  (Most instances the items were returned eventually and in some cases even something better had been left behind as in the one instance when a glass of milk had disappeared but in its place was left a milk cow - even if the cow was someone else's, the fact that something better had been left cannot be overlooked.)
It didn't take long before everyone realized (as nothing had gone missing still) that one of the main reasons they had decided to show up for the party wasn't there!  No Borrowers which meant no Dragon tablet.  Yes, there was a real Dragon, and usually that would have been something of a spectacle, but this group wanted to see what all the hullabaloo was about regarding this newest find... or at least what the latest gossip was about.  Since it wasn't here soon the guests started to make excuses as to why they needed to leave (but not until after filling their pockets with food from the buffet tables).
Picture
As the party dwindled down to just the minion staff and the few guests who had really wanted to just attend a party, Hunter lead Griselda, Hungry, and the Baron into a small sitting room for a quick private discussion.  "It appears that the race is now on for who finds out what is on the Dragon tablet first," said the Shadows' King to the others as they sat.  "I know this is not what you were expecting Griselda but I needed to know what you know about it."
"What tablet?" Hungry asked, but before Hunter could answer the Baron said, "This tablet that might have untold power."  As he continued, Hunter only nodded his head affirming the Barons chilling words.  "Hungry, some rulers are benevolent and just, while some are looking to expand their treasury or reputation.  There are some who quest for more knowledge or power and some want to change things to be the way they want them to be.  Several here tonight attended so they could see the Dragon tablet and had hoped to learn something that the others did not know.  Since the tablet wasn't here, each is now heading to their realm to start the race to see who can find the Borrower with the tablet and get it for themself."
Picture
"A race you say? asked Hungry looking at the Shadows' King.  "Are we in it?"

Spies and Minions...

10/19/2021

Picture
At the same time  Hir'aeth, the Gooblin King, was meeting with his mechanical spy, Passporte' was following Drat, the Rat, at the Troll King's command.  (To read about that adventure - click here.)
Picture
Passporte' had been a little hesitant to enter the small cottage as the entire meeting was held in total darkness.  He never learned what was told to Drat as he did not speak of it even after they left (which only added more mystery to the whole event).
Picture
Drat's web of spies was spread wide for the royal as he was well known for being the one who got those 'special things' done for Druzzy, the King of the Trolls.  Which was a good thing as those spies just reported to him about the finding of the tablet by the 'borrowers'.  Who the 'borrowers' are is not important just yet, but what they had found was.

A tablet that was rumored to have been written by the Dragons and hidden when they left was the find of the millennium (especially since Trolls and Dragons are known to live for a very long time).
Dragon script is ancient with only a rare few outside the circle of Dragons that can read their written language.  The thing was that Drat had heard the Gooblin King was one of those individuals.  Drat knew that Atian, the Village on the Wall historian, was also one of those but he had left and nobody knew when he would return leaving just the Gooblin King... or so he thought.
As he was racking his tiny brain, Drat knew that when he informed Druzzy he would be ordered to find out what was on the tablet... but who to go to?  Then it hit Drat.  One other may know how to read the tablet or possibly might know of someone else with the knowledge.  The Dowager!  She had been a Wish Dragon Clan Guardian and knew many of their secrets.  "How do I get her to tell me," he pondered.  "I may have to resort to that method I seldom use."
At that moment, Griselda, the Dowager, was sitting in her chair at the Baron's mansion, sipping her tea and wondering how Hungry, the little Wish Dragon, was doing.  "I have a feeling I should go see him," she decided.  Once the decision was made, she instructed Sneefle, her faithful servant, to have a message delivered to Hunter, the Shadows' King, that she would be visiting and wouldn't it be nice if she could see Hungry again.  "He will get the message," she smiled, knowing that he would both receive the message and understand. After all, as Hungry being the last of the Dragons of the Wish Dragon clan and herself being the last of the guardians of the Dragon, it was time to confirm that Hungry was learning what he needed to know.

And the competition is on...

As Druzzy, King of the Trolls, sat on his throne only partially listening to a troll speak about about the rising costs of bridge construction, his mind was really focused on his plans for the young Wish Dragon.  "I must have it," he muttered silently to himself as the speaker continued, totally unaware that his royal audience's mind was miles away and many years into the past.
Once he would have considered Hir'aeth, now the Gooblin King, a good friend.  That was many, many years ago  and before that moment.  "Ah, if he hadn't dropped it, I would have had it," thought Druzzy.  It had been their first search for a collectable.  Both had boasted about how they would be the one to find the  rare and precious bone sculpture.  It was a one-of-a-kind as only one had ever been made by the great Dragon master artist, Di-Zane, but it had been lost when Di-Zane left with the other Dragons.  After many years of searching, both the troll and gooblin had finally found the Dragon's lair.  Little did they realize that Di-Zane also left clever little devices behind to keep his secrets.  As Hir'aeth was the first to put his hands on the sculpture, a rock came crashing down and smashed it to a thousand small pieces.  Hir'aeth barely was able to remove his hands before the stone fell but the piece was now lost forever!  "If he would have let me take it first, I would have saved it," Druzzy still thought.
It was from this day forth that started the competition on a less than friendly beginning and as the years continued, that desire to one-up the other became even more fierce between the two.  Now, it seemed, to be the sole ambition of each of the rulers over all else!  Who will win the next competition?
Picture
Picture
As the speaker went on about the bridge problems, he took heart when he saw the King smiling and nodding his head.  "He must like my presentation," he thought and continued on, not once realizing that the King of the Trolls was really smiling at his own thought that he knew something the Gooblin King did not.  "I will get this talisman first," he silently told himself, just waiting to see the look of defeat on the Gooblin King's face when he showed him his newest acquisition.

Answering a Royal Summons...

Picture
"I wonder what he really wants," thought Hewy as he sat in the receiving room waiting to see the Troll King.  "After the last party I played  for his Royalty and with the Gooblin King showing up uninvited -- it was pretty well understood by everyone that there would be no more parties at this palace. It hadn't been pretty when the Gooblin King entered and stole the audience by having a bigger gem to show off than King Druzzy," Hewy sat remembering.
The more Hewy thought about it, the more he was convinced that the King must have another reason for summoning him than just to write the music for another party.  "I bet it has something to do with Hungry," he guessed.  At this time his own stomach rumbled as he had been waiting quiet a long time and was beginning to get hungry before finally Drat, the King's minion, came to invite Hewy into the royal chambers.
"Ah, Hewy, just the Troll I was waiting for," smiled the King with a quick wink to his eye and a small smirk on his lips as he knuckles bumped Hewy's clenched fists. There were very few protocols for Trolls, but the knuckles bump was one that all Trolls did.  More of out safety than anything else, just like a salute is to make sure your enemy's hand was empty of a weapon, trolls wanted to make sure both hands were busy.  Every troll wanted to live to become an Ancient One so each was taught as a young trolling to make sure that you did not allow anyone to get a hold on you.  Thus the knuckles bump was started making it difficult (but not impossible) to be grabbed.

"How may I serve you sire?" Hewy asked as he quickly backed away from the King to be a safe.
"Hewy, I have heard about a young Wish Dragon and that you are to be one of his teachers, is that correct?"  Before Hewy could reply though, the King kept talking... "It has been a long time since the Dragons have been in the realm, do you think that you could bring him here to meet with me?  I would really like to have a private chat with him," asked the King, again giving him that wink-wink. Now, when a King asks for something of one of his subjects, it really is not a request, it is a nice way of saying that he wants something and it is up to the one being asked to get it.  The Troll Kingdom is no exception.
Hewy knew he was going to need to answer this request but he hoped he could delay it for a little while.  "I will have to meet with the young Wish Dragon, sire," answered Hewy,  "as he is currently with his other teachers."

"That's fine... just fine.  Don't be long and let Drat know when you will return," the King idly replied as his mind was already planning the next steps of his scheme.  "You may go."

Drat, knowing his cue, started ushering Hewy from the King's presence.  As Drat and Hewy left, the King overheard his minion asking where the Wish Dragon was now, how long before Hewy would be returning, and what did a Wish Dragon eat?
"Now, the next step in getting the Blue Rose begins," snickered Druzzy with a smile on his lips and a twinkle in his larcenous eyes.

"Sire.  I know you and 'him' are both collectors, shall we say, of rare objects, but you shouldn't assume that he also is looking for the Token.  'He' may not even be aware of its existence," said Drat.
"Oh, he knows about it my furry little friend.  It was one of the first things we fought over when he told me his collection was better than mine," growled Druzzy.
"He has always been poking his pointy little, no, I take that back, his pointy BIG nose in my affairs ever since," said the King as he put his hands in front of his nose and acted like it was long and pointy.  "Even your nose is not as big as his," chuckled Druzzy, now in a little better mood.
"Now Drat, how are we going to get that token?"

"The reports indicate that another Troll helped the Wish Dragon Sire.  I suggest that you maybe can smooze him.  He apparently has a close association to one of the Sleeping Sisters," grinned Drat.  "If you can try a little of your knavery..."
"I don't knave" glared Druzzy.  "I educate.  There is a difference you know.  Can I help it if my charm and good naturedness gives me the best of the bargain?"
"So sorry Sire.  If you 'convince' this Troll that your best intentions are for the Wish Dragon and building its trust for Trolls, maybe he can help us get closer to the Token."
"What is the Troll's name?" asked Druzzy as he started pondering his scheme (err... I mean plan).

"It is Hewy, Sire.  He is the master musician that wrote the music for your last rock party.  You know, the one where you showed off the new jewel added to your crown.  The one that the Goob..."
"Don't say his name!" roared Druzzy.
Drat, The Rat, did not move nor complete his comments.  He silently waited for the King of the Trolls to calm down enough to speak.  When he did, it was to tell his minion to find Hewy and bring him to the royal court for a commission.
As Drat was leaving, his sensitive ears picked up the Kings mumblings.  "I wonder where did he find that gem bigger than mine and how he crashed my party with it..."
