"It is great too on how everyone pulled together to help rescue those mis-enchanted," Fiddlefaddle said as he turned to watch the crowd at the food tent and the young Moon Dragon standing among them. "Who would have thought that little Dragon born in the depths of the Baron's mansion would be so powerful... as well as being our friend," Fiddlefaddle murmured to Sneefle before his brother started sneezing. Turning back towards his brother, Fiddlefaddle noticed that Sneefle had a small box in his hands. "Are you carrying Moon Flowers, Sneefle? You know how they make you sneeze. Plus the Dragons will soon be sniffing them! You know that they are their favorite, almost as much as ambrosia and we don't need a Dragon feeding frenzy right now," stated Fiddlefaddle as he looked at Sneefle hiding his hands behind his back.
The two brothers stood for a moment more looking at each other before turning towards the huge tent the Brownies had set up to fed everyone.
"Come, little brother," said Fiddlefaddle as he put his arm out and over Sneefle's shoulders to pull him along. "Time we checked in with the Baron to see what we can do about finding these people their homes." As Sneefle and Fiddlefaddle started back to the tent, Sneefle's attention was temporarily caught by seeing the Moon Dragon talking to the Dowager, King Dulbbe, and Queen Ffion. "Yes, that is another thing to check up on," thought Sneefle as he was sure the Dragons weren't totally happy with what was happening here. Especially now with a new Moon Dragon appearing. "I wonder what new disaster that will bring to the Realm of Wymsy?"

"I told you that we should have left him alone this time," one Wysp told the others. "Now he is really mad!" Really mad was an understatement, Aralt was furious! His corolla was missing and after seeing so many Wysps around he finally figured out who had taken it. "Today is not the day for this to happen," growled Aralt as he wanted to have his magical crown when he and Siate' met the young Dragon named Dree. "My Emerald Dragon Stone will let me hear the mind-speaking of the Dragons, but without the corolla, I won't be able to nudge them to my desires." This is how Drat found him. "This will be easier than I thought," Drat realized as he watched both Aralt and the Wysps. Slowly stalking behind the arguing group of Wysps, Drat whispered from behind them that maybe they should head for the free food at the SPICE cave nearby where Allspice and Nutmegg were preparing food and drink for the meeting.
Aralt didn't hesitate to chase the Wysp holding his crown out of the cave and ended up following them towards the SPICE kitchen. Smiling, Drat waited a minute before slowly following them all so he could be there to watch the excitement when Dree and the others arrived. As the Wysps were being chased by Aralt, Nutmegg was setting up a small tent and some tables for the food that Allspice was bringing out from the kitchen in their cave. "They should be getting here soon," thought Nutmegg as he finished with the tables. As Nutmegg finished, Allspice stepped out of the cave with a box of food and said, "They should be here soon." Nutmegg just smiled at his boss and shook his head in amusement.
Soon it looked like it was going to be the biggest picnic that the Realm of Wymsy had ever seen. Just about everyone was there! Everyone but the Dragons... As the Wysps, being followed by Aralt, appeared so did a very smug looking Drat. It was then that the Dragon Queen, Siate', decided to make her grand entrance out of her cave too. As she left her cave, other Dragons started to appear behind her. Aralt decided that he needed to be there and vowed to get even with those irritating Wysps later as he went to stand by Siate's side as the Dragon Herald. As more and more Dragons appeared from the other caves in the area, the Wysmy townspeople grew quiet and stared. They had no idea that there were that many Dragons who had returned to the Realm. Soon many of the Wysps started to ignore the free food and began mumbling to each other as they pointed at each new Dragon as it appeared. It did not take long for Siate' to be standing at the head of the Dragons as if she was the queen of them all. In her mind she was their Queen as soon as she could take care of this young Dragon Dree. Hopefully today would be that day so the others would not challenge her authority over them since Dragons did not believe in royalty or governments for themselves. Dragons were pragmatic though as they did respect power and intelligence. Just as Siate's was becoming irritated, Aralt stepped up to her side. "Where is this young Dragon?" she asked him. Aralt looking around quickly and replied "He is not here". She had thought that Dree had already arrived when she had made herself known and now here she was waiting for him to appear. "I will make him pay for this," grumbled Siate' as she tapped her long talons on a rock while she waited for Dree to arrive. All of a sudden, a portal appeared in the middle of crowd and as everyone was moving away from it, out stepped Granny Flare, Meerher, Ellie, and Dree. Almost as fast as the portal appeared, it was gone. As Granny and the Luminary Council members headed towards where the Baron and Dowager stood, Dree turned and to face Siate' and her wrath.
"Why, I was of the Wish Dragon clan as I told you before," answered Dree as he knew that would irritate her even more. "I know that," she almost screamed. "What clan are you with now?" "Well," answered Dree, "I just recently found out there is one more member so I guess you could say it is a clan I suppose..." he paused watching Siate' getting madder at how he was making her look foolish, Dree continued. "I am of the Moon Dragon clan." Of all of the responses he could have said, this one made the entire Dragon community lift their heads and look at him now in a different way. Before they all saw a young Dragon being impertinent to an elder, now they saw only something that many of them had heard about in legends and a legend for a Dragon was a very, very, very long time ago. Now was the time for Dree to remove the threat of Siate' and Aralt. "Dragons! Townsfolk of Wymsy! Hear me! I am Drai’ochtluan but most of you know me as Dree. I am of the Moon Dragon clan and am here to show you the powers of my clan. Recently a new Realm has appeared in the cosmos. It is causing a disturbance in the balance and must be corrected before great and terrible events occur. There are many from various realms trapped there without a way home. This must be corrected and with this being the thinnest time of the year of the great veil that separates the realms, it must be done now." This is where Siate' realized she could establish her power and quickly interrupted Dree. "I have the power to make a portal to bring them over," she said making sure she spoke loud enough for all to hear. This was the moment that Dree had been waiting for! "As you cannot keep the portal open for very long, I thank you for your offer of assistance," spoke Dree, "but I intend to anchor this new realm called the World of Whispers to this realm so it can be now a part of the Realm of Wymsy." Dree's announcement caught Siate' off guard. "No Dragon can do that," she growled. Dree just smiled and thumbed the Brownie portal stone that he had been holding and started to open a portal.
As the portal opened, those surrounding Dree could see the others trapped in the other realm. Soon a metal chain appeared to be floating and coming out of the portal and attached itself to a nearby boulder. When the connection was secure, slowly those trapped on the other side started coming through the portal. Quickly the Baron and Dowager greeted them and started to move them away from the opening. As more and more appeared from the portal, Dree turned to Siate' and said, "thank you for your offer to help, but the portal will now stay open on it's own and the other realm is now permanently attached to this one. The balance has been restored." As Siate' started to open her mouth to say something, she realized that she had been beat and quickly closed it. This young Dragon had beaten her and now she needed to figure out how best to salvage the situation. Siate' had always been a Dragon of opportunity and now she was trying to create a new one... but what would it be?
Fiddlefaddle and Sneefle were busy serving everyone tea and treats when Griselda managed to get an unnoticed minute alone with Dree. "I see that you have decided on something haven't you?" she asked. Startled, Dree slightly blushed before looking directly into her eyes. "Yes, I think I know what to do. But am I ready for possibly the costs?" the Moon-Wish Dragon answered. His reply caused the Dowager some surprise! "What costs could he mean," she pondered as she watched Dree walk away to get his tea and a sweet.
Nodding her head, she silently agreed with Drat as they parted and each went to their chairs. Just like at every event and gathering, there is a moment when everything goes quiet or everyone is watching for someone else to re-start the conversation. It is at that moment the room takes control and almost always it either turns into someone saying, "Oh, it's later than I thought" or "It must be time to be leaving." It could even be "What did you think of that storm last night?" This is a natural law no matter where one lives. But this was not one one of those moment as something else happened. Dree stood up from his chair (and his favorite pillow), sat down his drink and unfinished cookie on the nearby table and cleared his throat to get everyone's attention. Not that he needed to make much of sound for anyone in a room with a growing Dragon in it usually has their eyes on the Dragon anyhow.
"I have been to the Wishing Well and have retrieved the Nyte Shade's Heart and have heard the Wishing Well's tale of how the Nyte Shade Heart came to be in the Well. I have also learned how the returning Dragons' magic has been tainted by their long departure from this realm. This is what creates the mis-enchantments when a Wish Dragon grants a wish," Dree giving a nod to Allspice and Nutmegg, the SPICE agents. Before continuing, Dree looked also at the others in the room and realized that he had their full attention. They were waiting for him to continue. Looking at King Dulbbe with Drat sitting next to him, then glancing over to Queen Ffion and Arnie, Dree continued. "The Dragons need to stay in this realm if they are to heal the taint of their magic. This can only be done through the exposure to the Nyte Shade's Heart. This is the only way to cure the problem. Either that or the Heart has to leave the Realm to be wherever the Dragons live. It is my wish that if the Dragons stay, we must find a way for all to live together peacefully. Though it has become apparent to me that peacefulness is not what Siate' and Aralt are looking for. They are more interested in dominance." Dree paused to see what reaction his speech was having over the others. He noticed that everyone was either nodding in agreement to his observations or were waiting for him to finish. Even Snoop, the Baron, and the Dowager were waiting for him to say his piece. Taking in a long breath and slowly letting it out, Dree realized that these were his friends, they had become his family, and were with him. "Hopefully they will still wish to be my family after they hear my plan," the Moon-Wish Dragon mumbled to himself. "This is what I propose we do..." started Dree. When the Moon Dragon's plan was presented to the others, Dree stopped talking to see their reaction. It was Drat who broke the silence first. It took Dree a minute to realize that his friend was laughing hard and was trying to keep it bottled up inside. It didn't work. Soon more of the group were laughing and Dree started to get a little uncomfortable. Before Dree could ask what was wrong, Drat spoke. "I am just picturing the look on Siate and Aralt's faces if your plan works. I love it!"
After a brief chat, the Baron thanked his BAT man for the wonderful job he had done and told him to rest up as they would be needing him for more errands when the group decided to take action. It wasn't rest that Fiddlefaddle wanted, it was just to put his sore feet up. That was exactly what he was going to do. Upon arriving to his room, he found a basin of hot water sitting at the foot of his favorite chair steaming and calling for him to put his feet into. "Brothers can be annoying at times, but sometimes..." he thought as he realized that Sneefle must have known he was back and would want to soak his feet.
As he was thinking about getting up and unpacking his satchel where the prize was stored, his sore feet took over... "It can wait" they told the rest of his body. Smiling to himself, Fiddlefaddle nodded his head in agreement and decided. "What is another hour glass turn. It can wait... ," he thought as he wiggled his toes in the still hot water "before I give it to her. Aaaahhhhh!"
"This time you will be going west-wise to check out something that may help us in our troubles with the Dragons." Taking Fiddlefaddle's bag and handing him the new one with his instructions, the Baron quickly turned his BAT man around and started him back down the trail to the express station. It all happened so fast, that Fiddlefaddle was already past the Mansion gates and was walking down the trail to the station before he even realized that he was now going in the opposite direction from where he had just come from!
What was special about this year's celebration was that the Baron and his mother, the dowager Griselda, were hosting the Harvest Event at the Baron's Mansion. As the Baron was discussing the seating arrangements with Snoop since both were nobility in their own ways, the dowager was directing their servants Fiddlefaddle and Sneefle in their duties. "Now don't forget, today you will be serving our guests more than you will be catering to my son's or my needs," she reminded them over and over again.
Meanwhile, Granny Flare was busy in the kitchens in the back of the mansion making sure that everything would be ready for the feast. As she checked each item as it was prepared, Gardner was bringing in the fresh vegetables and fruit that he had grown specially for just this occasion. "Here is the last of it," he told Granny as he set the heavy crate down on the kitchen floor. "Is there anything else you need brought in?" he asked as he stood besides a large boiling pot and enjoying the wonderous aroma that it was making. Granny just smiled as she gave him a couple of the hot pumpkin spice cookies that had just come out of an oven and shooed him outside as she told him to come back in a couple of hours. "By then I will know if I need anything else," she told him.
In the grand ballroom Efem, Cornelia, Parsley, and Nemmer were busy cleaning and setting up the decorations. The dusty mytes were being extra careful (and under the watchful eye of Nemmer) to only suck in the dust as they cleaned instead of blowing any out. "All we need is for them to make everyone forget today," Nemmer thought as he kept one eye on them while he was helping with the decorations. And finally, there were many more helping outside in preparing for the arrival of those who were invited. Since everyone in the Realm was on the guest list except for the Wysps (who would show up invited or not if whoever held the leadership stick felt like it), that meant that a lot of chairs, tables, and tenting was needing to be setup. Dewin, the wizard, was using his magic to have the folding chairs unfold and stand up where he directed while Scarlet was watching over the Nytemares as they dragged in the tables and large tents. So, as all of those who live in the Realm of Wymsy prepare for this thanksgiving feast, we at MisPlace Dolls would like to thank all of you on this Thanksgiving Holiday as we come together to celebrate. Happy Thanksgiving!
What had just happened with Aralt was something that wasn't following true as he tried to put together the pieces of what he had just seen. Aralt walking through a portal and disappearing was not that unusual in the Realm of Wymsy. Granny Flare did it all of the time... and blue Wysps were as annoying and as numerous as mosquitos in a swamp... but something that he saw was still nagging at him. "What is it that keeps bugging me," the hunter thought. Then it struck him and he almost stopped running! It was the way Aralt had entered the portal! "The portal was already there and he did not cast the spell to open it," realized Nemmer. "It's as if he knew what was on the other side." Nemmer now knew he had to get to the Baron's Mansion as fast as he could. "The Dowager was right," he thought. "Aralt may be a bigger danger than even the Dragons returning." It did not seem soon enough for Nemmer, but shortly he was standing at the doors of the Mansion knocking and waiting for someone to let him in. After only a few seconds, Nemmer got impatient and started banging on them. "Come on... Open up already!" he growled.
His choice was rewarded as both the Baron and Griselda were there drinking tea as he entered unannounced. "Sorry to interrupt, but I need to talk to both of you," he said as they saw him. It was then that Nemmer saw that one other was in the room also. It was Dree who was sitting on the floor with a pillow that he was adjusting to get more comfortable as he leaned against a wall. "Should I leave?" asked the Dragon to his hosts. "I think you should hear this Dree," answered Griselda as she stared at Nemmer, "as I have a feeling that what Nemmer has to say will probably involve you also." Nemmer nodded his head affirmatively and then began telling the three what he had seen and his concerns. When he had finished, both the Baron and Griselda gave each other a concerned look before saying anything. "I agree with your assessment and what you have told us makes it even more clear to me," replied Griselda. "The Herald has an agenda that I don't think is in our or Dree's best interest. My guess is that the portal goes to where ever the Dragons currently are and he will shortly be bringing them through. We must be ready." With that, the Dowager took charge of the campaign soon to come. Quickly she sent Sneefle, Fiddlefaddle, and Nemmer off to start alerting the others. Everyone needed to meet at this mysterious new portal for they needed to all be there when the Dragons came through if it wasn't already too late.
"But Dowager," answered Fiddlefaddle, "How will we summon so many? I don't speak Bee-G and nobody but Parsley knows how the Mushroom Line communicates..." Before he could continue Griselda cut him off. "That is not your problem. I will take care of that. You will just need to give them the messages when they arrive. Make sure that the right messenger gets the right message. If I tell you that it has to go to a cave, make sure that the Root Connection make the delivery. If the message is going to a mountain peak, then make sure the Twitter Birds get it. I am sure that between the two of you, you will be able to figure out the best way to send the message. Now I have to get busy writing messages. The Baron has his own tasks to do." Knowing when they had been dismissed to get on with their work, both bowed and left the parlor. "If the Dowager was writing the messages, what could be my task? thought the Baron. Since just returning from the Council meeting, it struck the Baron that maybe someone should check on Dree. As he brought the subject up to his mother, she realized that he was right. No one had thought of how the one Dragon that was already in the Realm would feel if everyone else thought the Dragons' return was to be a dangerous situation. Given the fact that Dree was a new Moon Dragon and unaware of the powers that he possessed, now would be a good time to make sure he was not upset or scared. Upset or scared powerful Dragons could cause a few problems - especially when they are only partially trained.
For that the Baron was grateful. "I have walked enough today without having to go searching for Hungry, oops, Dree, somewhere in the Shadows' Realm," he thought as he reached the bottom of the stairs. Opening the door to the secret caverns below his mansion, he could tell that they had another visitor. "Even the dirt on the floor is clean," he chuckled to himself about the house brownie. "Granny Flare must have been here." Soon the Baron was in the chamber where Dree was sitting on a stack of pillows and reading a book. At first the site of it surprised him, but after a moment, he started to chuckle. "Why not?" he decided to himself. "His teachers would be proud of how well the new Moon Dragon was applying himself to learning." It was the chuckle that alerted Dree to the Baron's presence as he looked up from the book. "Good day Baron. Have you read this book yet? It's fascinating! It's all about Dragons. Granny Flare left it for me to read." Deciding that it would be a good way to start the conversation he knew he would have to have with Dree, the Baron answered. "No, I have never seen that one before. What can you tell me about your kin?" Soon Dree was telling the Baron about the different types of Dragons and the things they could do... "Now, this one is a water Dragon and he can swim and use water to build things with. Won't that be neat? If I could do that I could make blocks of water with fish in them and then stack them up along that wall," as he pointed to a wall in the cave, "and watch them swim around without getting hurt." "It's funny that you said that," replied the Baron. "Dree, you were at the Council meeting today and heard what the Dowager said. Do you understand why we are all so concerned about the Dragons returning?" The question made the young Dragon stare at the Baron for a minute. Then he put the book down on one of the pillows and stared at the wall he had pointed to only minutes before, not saying a word. After a short silence, Dree finally turned to look at the Baron and answered. "Yes, I think I do. You are afraid that with the return of the Dragons that whatever made them go away might happen again. But maybe this time it will happen after something bad occurs. You are here because you don't know what I will do now that I am a Moon Dragon." As surprised to hear that the Dragon did understand his concerns, the Baron knew now was the time to ask his other question. "What will you do?"
Little do they all realize, but this unique meeting could shape the entire future of both the Realm of Wymsy and the Shadows' Realm.
