Finally, a Wish Dragon overheard a wish being made. Deciding that maybe this was a way to make friends, the Dragon granted the wish... and that is when things started going wrong! By the time the Dragons came to the land where Allspice's (Al) kind lived, the Dragons started granting wishes willy-nilly. It was soon afterwards noticed that when a wish was not completely thought out - an innocence bystander or other citizens would disappear! First it was only a few and it never seemed to be the one making the wish. But after a time, it was discovered that anyone involved in a wish where things went wrong -- could maybe disappear. This is when the locals started resenting all Dragons! This made things a little sticky for the Dragons and they knew it was time to move on.
Maybe a few flames would escape and a slight scorching would occur, but with a Wish Dragon, something entirely different happened. When a Wish Dragon hiccupped, a By-Stander that had been caught up in a bad wish would re-appear! At first it was a cause for celebration. The missing Fae could be brought back just by having a Wish Dragon drink lots of Ambrosia! Though everyone was excited about their returns, it was quickly noticed that they were not the same. The By-Standers could come back looking green or be way smaller (or taller) than they had been before their disappearance - all from the residue of a wish gone wrong. But they were coming back and after a visit to a local witch doctor, most were able to have the remaining magical virus removed. This is when SPICE (Stewards Preventing Imperfectly Casted Enchantments) was created. This group was to regain and find those Fae that were affected by Wish Dragon wishes that had gone awry. Members of the organization soon were to be known as SPI's (pronounced spy). The SPI's realized that the best way to keep an eye on the Wish Dragons was to become the makers of the Ambrosia they would drink. They could give the Wish Dragons Ambrosia and then watch to see who would show up after a drinking session. The Dragons never realized that their bakers were actually their keepers and were completely unaware about what was happening when they hiccupped. They just enjoyed the Ambrosia! This is why Al and the other members of SPICE accompanied the Dragons to the Realm of Wymsy. They were determined to continue their work and return everyone who had disappeared.

"But what can we whip up that will be different? We have to show everyone that we still have that special touch and are the best bakers in the realms!" Goodie2shues and Goodie4U just looked at each other and tried to think up something unique. "I remember a few years ago when Granny came up with a gluten free pumpkin pie recipe that everyone tried just to see what it tasted like," said Goodie2shues. "Hardly anyone ate what we brought that year," added Goodie4U remembering all of the leftovers they had from that Harvest Festival. "We don't want that again," added Goodiegood. As the three sisters stewed over what special recipe they would pull together, they sat and sipped their pumpkin spice tea. Suddenly Goodiegood smiled. The others could just picture her mind churning up something. "I know what we can create and we won't even have to use the oven!" she snickered. "No one else would ever think of it..." she continued almost to herself.
"This will be fun and we didn't even have to ask the Magical Cooking Spoon for an idea," Goodie2shues thought as she started her part of the recipe. The recipe:
First she melted the butter and mixed it with the sugar and graham cracker crumbs in a large bowl. Next she pressed the mix across the bottom of a cake pan and then put the pan into a cooler to chill it until it was cold. As Goodie2shues was making the crust, Goodie4U was starting the filling. In a large bowl she mixed:
After mixing the ingredients, she folded in 1 quart of softened vanilla ice cream. Next she spooned everything into the chilled crust made by Goodie2shues and they put the treat into a freezer for about 30 minutes. When this was done, it was Goodiegood who figured out that a double batch of the mixture would fill a 9 inch by 13 inch cake pan. "If we are going to have enough for everyone, we will need to get some more supplies before the Festival," she told her sisters as they were looking over the finished treat after it had chilled sufficiently. "I wonder how much ice cream we can get this time of year?" "No one will think of this," said Goodie2shues as the others nodded their heads in agreement. "But what do you call it?" she asked Goodiegood who had thought up the recipe.
The others nodded their head in agreement as Goodiegood made a note on the shopping list to not forget the two in the cave.
"This check list thing can sure be useful," thought Drat. The minion had never done one before until Dulbbe had become the Troll King. The new king and former bookkeeper was a stickler for lists. At first Drat thought it would be a waste of time and just one of those ways that having something in writing could get him into trouble, but after a while he realized they really were helpful. "As long as I don't lose it and I don't make anything on it clear to anyone else but me, then I don't have to keep everything in my head," he had decided after using them for a time. Now he did it to keep his mind free for other things and to help him focus on the issues at hand. "Of course the answer is easy," he chuckled looking at his list. "Find something else for him to eat and I know just where to go for that." Drat had heard from his own sources about the Goodie Sisters providing Dree (at that time - Hungry) with a birthday party and about how much the Dragon loved the food so that is where he decided to pick up some snacks before showing up to keep him distracted. The elder Goodie Sister, Goodiegood, was at the council meeting but the other two should be at home - at least Drat hoped. Soon he was standing outside of the Goodie cottage, Drat could smell something cooking. "Yup. Someone is there," he smiled as his own stomach made a slight growl. "Hopefully it is something that will be tastier than myself that Dree will like," thought Drat just as he was about to knock on the door. Before he could though slowly the door opened by itself and he could hear Goodie4U calling out to him to come in. "How do they do that?" Drat had thought for more than the first time.
It was a circle of twigs above the door and for an instant he thought he saw a bunch of entwined snakes. "Why am I thinking everything wants to eat me? Is it because I must be hungrier than I realized," he told himself as he crawled out from under the table but all of the time keeping at least one eye on the twigs. "I have a bag of sweets waiting here for you," said Goodie2shues "with a couple of extras for your trip to the caves" as she handed Drat the sack. "Tell Dree hi for us while you are there. We made him some Chocolate Haystacks that Scarlet swears by especially since we knew that Dree loves chocolate. There should be enough there to keep him from deciding if you are edible or not," she smiled at him.
"We have also heard from King Dulbbe and Queen Ffion about the potential dangers of a ruling Wish Dragon according to the past stories of the She-Dragon," finished Griselda. Everyone looked at each other, waiting to see if someone would start the conversation they all knew had to happen. It was Awena who began. "We need to create a plan to minimize the chaos of the arrival of the Herald and the Dragon's return. I have searched the records of the Sleeping Sisters and have found nothing that will aid us in this problem. The only ancient text or prophesy that was discovered is extremely vague. The most we can confirm is that all realms are in danger if the Dragon's are no more and the game is lost. We have not found out what is meant by 'this game of power' nor what would make all of the Dragons disappear," she said and sat down on one of the many chairs in the audience chamber. "You have all heard what we have found out about the returning Dragons. Do you have any further questions of the Dragon orb?" Griselda asked the others. "If not - then now is the time we must decide what we can do. The one major question we cannot answer is does Aralt know we now have a Moon Dragon here in the Realms?" What do you think of this Dree?" finished Griselda as all turned to look at the young Moon Dragon. Dree was totally caught off guard. He had been listening to everyone's discoveries and was picturing in his mind what the other Dragons would look like and how they would act, but he had not been following the Dowager's final comments. So with a startled look he realized everyone was staring at him and waiting for his comments. After a few gulps, he finally started to speak. "Excuse me for not paying attention at everything that has been said here, but I have been listening and thinking. I understand both from your discoveries of the Orb and from the reading I have been doing from some books that Granny Flare gave to me what it meant to be a Wish Dragon. I am just now getting my wings under me in trying to find out what a Moon Dragon may be. I am hoping this Herald can help me discover what it is that I am supposed to do," he said. Taking a slow breath Dree continued, "But, I also know that he is a stranger to me while all of you are my family. I may be a Dragon, and formerly of the Wish Dragon Clan, but you have all raised me and have helped me become what I am now so you are my clan too. I do not know if there is anything I can do to prepare for the coming of my kin, but I do feel that I should learn all that I can to be prepared for their arrival," Dree told the others.
Everyone in the room stood and bowed to the young Moon Dragon to show him their support. It was almost too much for the Dragon, but he finally did look back at them all and said a simple "Thank you." It was then that the Goodie Sisters and Parsley entered the chamber and announced that the meal they had been preparing was ready... was anyone hungry? Dree started laughing and said "No, I'm Dree now - but I am still Hungry!"
It was that new style of cleaning she had shown to some of the other house Brownies at her last convention that he had written about. She called it 'vak-u-ming' (whatever that was). "It will never replace the broom," Snoop thought as he continued watching her clean. "There must be a meeting going to happen today," he realized when he also saw the brewing tea pot and cookies. "There sure are a lot of cookies and cups, so it must be for a full council meeting. Maybe even some VMPs (Very Magical Persons) " Snoop muttered to himself.
"At least the tea is better than what I brew at the Bellwether," Snoop thought while he slowly sipped a little. "I might have to make this cup last a long time since it doesn't appear that anyone has arrived yet but Granny Flare."
"You were right," Dulbbe said to Drat. "It was uncomfortable besides being dirty too. I don't want to have to use that route again unless we absolutely have too. I mean, I can usually see well in the dark, but not in that pitch black hole you took me through. I don't know how you did it because I could not see my hand in front of my face! And don't tell me what was making that sound when were were walking around down there... I don't even what to know who or what it was," Dulbbe finished with a shudder as he brushed his clothes with his hands. "Sorry Sire, but you did say you wanted to get here fast," Drat answered (but not before Snoop noticed that the rat had answered with a small smile on his lips). Still smiling, Drat stepped aside and motioned for his King to enter the council chamber first as he followed. "Interesting," thought Snoop. "I wonder who else will appear." Just as he said that, the coach with Queen Ffion pulled up being pulled by no less than four Nytemares. "She must have been in a hurry," he decided. "This must be important!" As Snoop continued to sip on his tea, he was able to observe several more arrivals for the meeting. There was Hewy, Hir'aeth the Gooblin King, the Goodie sisters, Awena from the Sleeping Sisters, the Baron and his mother the Dowager, and even Dewin the Wizard. All VMPs indeed! It was the last guest that appeared the made Snoop realize that he had to get into the meeting somehow. It was that young Wish Dragon who had transformed into a Moon Dragon, Drai'ochtluan. "I am glad that he likes to go by 'Dree' for short," Snoop sighed to himself. "I would have to look up the spelling every time I want to write it down."
Not realizing that Snoop meant it as a bad thing because she liked to jump everywhere, she shrugged his comment off and pulled on his sleeve again. When she thought she had his full attention, she delivered the message she was sent out with. "The Council asks if you would join them in the council chamber. They said they did not want to start without you." Snoop was flabbergasted... how did they know that is exactly where he wanted to be?
Soon the three sisters were walking on the trail to the Village on the Wall. As Goodie2shues was casting a protection spell to keep her shoes from getting dusty from the trail, she was also re-telling her sisters again the message from the Flutterby. "I wonder what could have made Griselda change the location?" Good4U asked her sisters. "Personally, I would rather have had it at the Baron's Mansion," Goodiegood said. "It is so much nicer than that chilly old Council Chamber in the village especially as the Baron's batman, Fiddlefaddle, does make such a savory cup of tea." "I am sure the Dowager had a good reason why," replied Goodie2shues. For a while afterwards they continued down the trail in silence. Each of the sisters thinking about how much could she tell the others at the meeting. It was Goodie4U who started talking first. "Sisters. It is all my fault for the meeting. As I was visiting the Outie world, I had a vision. It was the return of the Dragons."
For several more paces no one spoke, but the two youngest sisters kept turning to look at their eldest sister to see if she was going to add anything.
"But this was the strange part - when the bowl was partially empty, it looked more like a crescent shape and on the opposite side of where it was the first time, before going back to full," finished Goodiegood. "This happened several times before it stopped. When it did, I too saw a Dragon... but it wasn't Dree I don't think. It was flying in front of the moon and all I could see was an outline but it seemed smaller than Dree. As I have been thinking about it as to who this could be, then this message came from the Dowager, plus you both having seen the return of the Dragons, it is definitely a sign. The problem is that I don't know what is baking!" Goodiegood continued. As the sisters approached the village, they still had not decided amongst themselves what to tell the council or if there was a way they could control what might arise in the conversation. "This can definitely be a recipe for disaster," thought Goodiegood as she entered the council chambers after her sisters.
The one who creates the tastiest morsel that everyone thinks tastes the best is the victor in these battles (no cooks were injured in the last several battles except that time when a thrown spoon landed in the hot syrup - but that's a different story...). Plus the winner wins the opportunity to gain temporary ownership (until the next winner is proclaimed) of the magical BAKING SPOON! The Goodie sisters have had the Baking Spoon for so long now that they considered it theirs by default. It enhances their magic and allowed them to see more vividly into the future. Which at this time might be a good thing to have with all the Dragons coming back and the chaos they might be bringing too. Now is not the time to be thinking of loosing the Baking Spoon.
Both sisters take this competition very seriously as each always thinks she has the winning recipe to save the family honor and keep control of the Baking Spoon. Goodie2shues problem is that as the youngest sister she is stuck in the middle being the judge for deciding which sister has the better chance of winning the Big Food Fight challenge. But this year Goodie2shues is thinking she just might get outside help. So, can you help? Below are Goodiegood's and Goodie4U's entries into the Food Fight. Which one do you think might win for control of the Baking Spoon?
To see Goodiegood's recipe for her Apricot Ambrosia click here: https://www.misplacedolls.com/my-brambles/goodiegoods-apricot-ambrosia Now Goodie4U is not to be outdone. Being one that always knows what is good for you almost makes her somewhat cranky when she isn't listened too (A situation which Goodie2shues can testify to). Goodie4U knows her Date Delights are very tasty and also contain healthy fiber for the body too. With just dates, prunes, and coconut, these Delights are so easy to mix up that it takes very little magic to create them. To see Goodie4U's recipe for her Date Delights click here: https://www.misplacedolls.com/my-brambles/goodie4u-date-delights Will you help out Goodie2shues and still keep her sisters happy while trying to keep the Baking Spoon in the family? Leave a comment as to who you think has a chance at winning the Food Fight. Or, if you think their recipes both sound good enough to enter the final competition, do we let the Competition Judges decide, getting Goodie2shues off the hook? Plus now receiving the Dowager's emergency council meeting summons adds to the stress. Will the Food Fight be delayed or even cancelled? Not on the Goodie sisters' watch if they have anything to say about it.
The Ingredients: Dried Apricots -- Almonds -- Pineapple (in their own juice) and then she adds a little cinnamon and cardamom for the tropical zing to top them off.
Goodiegood's Apricot Ambrosia * makes approximately 30-35 balls per 32 ounce bag of apricots*
The Ingredients: 32 ounces of regular pitted dates (NOT Medjool dates unless you want it really sweet) -- coconut -- 9 ounces of pitted dried prunes. *Makes approximately 30-35 balls to the 32 ounce bag*
"But I need to contact Griselda, (the Dowager) as the last member of the Wish Dragon clan (Click the link to learn how the Dowager became a member of the clan). She will understand how serious this situation is, mused Goodie4U to herself. Using the portal stone that Granny Flare had given her, Goodie4U popped over to the Baron's mansion in the Village on the Wall where the Dowager was currently located.
Suddenly Goodie4U glamoured herself some suitable clothes so she could continue talking with the Dowager as she replied. "She is working on some clothes for me but she has been distracted. The Outie doesn't realize that she has created a 'Dragon portal' my lady." "Oh My!" replied the Dowager almost dropping her cup of tea. "Doesn't she know what will happen if the Dragons have a TSR (Totally Short Route) to the Realms instead of going through Customs?" the Dowager asked. "I don't know," Goodie4U answered. "I am not sure if she is aware of what happens when Dragons run unchecked like in the tale of Where every good story begins or why the Wish Dragon clan was formed. Apparently she may have never heard of these stories before." "Thank you for finding out this information," the Dowager said. "What we need to do now is call a Council meeting to determine our next step," she continued. "Pop back and get dressed. Find out what you can while I gather everyone for the meeting and then return here."
