Letters from the Lovelorn...

"Morning is my favorite time of the day," thought Griselda. "I can enjoy the latest edition of the Bellwether and have my fresh cup of tea in peace."

"Now where is that section that Sneefle was telling me about? Something about the Baron placing a letter again this year," she remembered as the Dowager turned to the Lovelorn page of the newspaper.

"What's this? Be My Valentine?" Apparently every year the newspaper publishes a few of the letters it receives from the locals looking for love... "and this year is no exception it seems," Griselda mumbles while perusing the page.

Would you be my Valentine?
If you love the enchantment of romance, we can go for long walks in the starlit Moon Garden where the flowers of love bloom. We could even go along the paths where the Pyksees play as I give you rides in my wheelbarrow.

Can She Hear Me?
I have given my heart to a raven haired beauty who awaits by the docks each morning to watch me teach the fish how to sing. She calls to my soul as I sit by the old fishing nets that I don't use anymore. We talk for hours of the wonders we have seen and the places we both still wish to go. I write in hopes that this letter finds it's way to her so that she might know of my love that is deeper then the deepest ocean.

Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places...
A lady who is ready for an adventure is whom I seek. Where we would go and what we would do does not matter as it will be a new experience since we will be doing it together.
Sharing my love for animals (all sorts of strange creatures) would be nice and having the ability to talk to dragons isn't a requirement (but could come in handy). Please have any health/life insurance paid up before our first date.

Ichthy has a love song...

As the big fish stories often go, one day, not too long ago, Ichthy decided to go fishing. Now Ichthy off fishing is not an unusual site as he is a fisherman after all, but today he decided to bring his fiddle to ease the time. He loves to play his fiddle as much as he loves to fish.

He went out to the most secluded dock he could find, pulled up a barrel to sit, cast his line and then started to play.

First it was the fast jigs that he knew so well.

Then he started to play softer, haunting tunes, that made a person yearn for someone to be with and share the magical moment.

As he played, he did not notice that the fish were not biting as he was so caught up in his playing. But they were watching him. They liked how the rhythm of the music made the water ripple in time to his playing.

On and on he played and still not a nibble on his line, but the school of fish kept getting bigger and bigger, some even leaping out of the water to see what he was doing and to better watch him play.

Finally stopping after playing a tune that even brought a tear to his eye, he heard clapping. Startled, he looked around but did not see anyone. "Anyone there?" he asked. Surely I am all alone here he thought.

Finally, he decided he should check his fishing line. He saw the school of fish all staring at him. "What do you want? You should be nibbling on my hook!" he shouted out. “Wait a minute, fish can’t clap”, he uttered, “something else is going on here.”

Peering out a little further, he saw a flap of a fin in the water and then suddenly he saw her, a beautiful mermaid! She was attracted to his playing and had been listening with the fish.

“Please, play on. It is so beautiful,” she asked him.

Play he did, that day and many days that followed. He played for her and the fish, who were her friends. In exchange for the beautiful music, she taught him how to speak to the marine life and enchanted him with tales of adventures below the ocean waves.

Now Ichthy no longer takes his fishing pole when he goes on his trips to the docks, just his fiddle and occasionally his chalk board to help school the fish in their scales. For they are working together on a song that will make it to the Top 40's charts... and beat out the ever popular Whales' song.
