What a Predicament...

"Here I was just munching on my favorites snacks (daisies of course), when I was faunnapped!" Faun tells the others as the other fauns gathered around her.  "I am minding my own business when I am grabbed, wrapped up with bubble wrap, and stuffed away in the dark!"  Several of the smaller fauns even looked around quickly to make sure that no one was sneaking up to grab them. 

"Before I know it, the wrapping was pulled off and I am standing in front of this strange 'outie' who is looking for marks on me."

"My identification code she called it!  Indeed!" grumbled Faun thinking back to that moment.  "She must have found something because before I know it a sticky tag is placed on the back of my neck and another tag is tied to my left arm.  Then I am taken away from the only face I have known (Lesley's) and made to stand in a room full of other strange creatures," continued Faun to the now growing group of listeners.

"Now don't get me wrong, I like to meet new people, but most of the others were not very talkative.  Some were dressed very elegantly and looked to have a timeless quality to them.  There were a few with wings that I think were from another magical land.  

​The ones that many of the 'outies' were oooohhing and ahhhing over were the ones created with masks on their faces.  ​I did hear something being said about what a fun theme a Venetian Carnival was going to be this year.  There was one character there that had every element of his outfit from his hair to his boots that were totally handmade.  Didn't sound very reasonable to me, but they were strangers after all. Soon there was an 'outie' with a piece of paper walking around making scribbles on it and talking about how that was a whole category by itself.  Don't ask me what she meant.  As everyone knows, 'outies' are a little different."  Several of the older fauns nodded their head in agreement.

"Then for a little while all of the 'outies' left and I had my chance to talk to some of the others.  It did not take long to find out that they had traveled like me - wrapped up and in the dark.  One even said that she had been wrapped in an old towel and stuffed into a bag with handles.  The nerve of these 'outies'," grumbled Faun to the tribe of listeners.

"Soon, other 'outies' showed up and a couple of these 'outies' stood in front of me, talking about me like I couldn't hear them, and making scribbles on their paper.  Boy was I surprised when they left me with a fancy ribbon!  From what I could read (it was upside down) it said I was Best of Category.  I am still not sure what category I am best at, but after they left, it got all quiet in the room again. Several of the others also had fancy ribbons like mine, but I sure hoped Lesley was looking for me as I wanted to return to the Realm of Wymsy because I only had the few daisies that came with me when I was snatched."

Looking over the small crowd of fauns that were listening to the story about her adventure and seeing the sun about to go down, Faun realized that she needed to end her tale soon or she would miss her chance to still go out and pluck more daisies.  

"Well, there is not much more to tell you.  Lesley did come and find me and brought me back home.  I still had to get wrapped up (she said it was for my own protection against some guerillas at the airport with luggage... whatever that meant) but when I got here, Lesley gave me a small suitcase she had won and said that the next time I have to travel, I can pack daisies into it so I don't get hungry."
