I have learned, not only do the Fae use shadows, but they also use masks to present themselves. They will weave their fairy glamore around themselves to create a mask or illusion I can't see pass. They may appear as a deer or a bird so they can go unnoticed. A familiar object that one doesn't think out of place. Their masks hide them like a veil and obscures them from me - giving a different perspective of what I think I am looking at. It is only at the time of removal (like the stroke of midnight in the fairy tales) when what is underneath is revealed. |
I am sitting here pondering what to write about for this week's blog --- an idea that is being very elusive to capture. Which I find funny, because being elusive is what Nemmer, my latest character, is all about... he is about revealing what I "think" I see (or is it)? When I started on my path to meet Nemmer, little did I realize I would have to be "elfshot" to really see him. He has revealed new dimensions to my sculpting that I am delighted to have discovered. I am like a little kid jumping around the room wanting to explore this new awareness. But is there more to see? Nemmer has revealed so much more to me than just sculpting techniques. With being "elfshot", I now understand how the Fae use shadows to hide in. It's that shadow or movement one notices in the corner of the eye but when looked at directly, completely disappears. Is this their way of slowly revealing themselves? Kind of like a distant wave hello - so neither of us feels too exposed. Could they be letting me know they are there, much like the first steps in dating when a young boy hits the girl in the arm and then runs away? *smiling* I guess this way we both slowly become comfortable with each other. So, as I was sculpting Nemmer, things that had been in front of me all of that time, suddenly revealed themselves. I now am able to see him in a new and different light. He chose to take off his mask and there he was. At the same time, I also now have an inspiration for part of his costume... and it looks like I wrote my blog.
