Now, as everyone who has ever lived with a cat (you don't own a cat - you just live with it), that a cat has a mind of it's own. Add a touch of magic, the ability to talk, and a cat attitude - things become even more interesting. Especially with a cat that has a twisted sense of humor!
The CAT quickly sauntered (cats do not just walk anywhere) over to the Twitter birds' pond and summoned who could be calling him... It was that wizard Dewin's Spite looking into a mirror. "Why would she be searching for me?" The CAT pondered. "I haven't bothered a Spite before..." As he said this, he realized that this was something new and not boring!!! Instantly he knew where the Spite was and that it was very close. "Close enough for just a short magical spring" decided The CAT. So, as Sprigg'n was deciding whether to search for The CAT or go and tell Dewin what she had discovered (both about the Wish Dragon and her new names), The CAT suddenly appeared sitting on the trail in front of her. There was no 'POOF' of magic - just a smug looking cat smiling at the Spite like it was soon to be a meal. "I have heard of you," Spite smiled back, "and your mischief. What do you want from me?"

Another connection the Dragons have with their birth crystals is the low melodious tone that helps them sleep. Only the Dragon can hear it and each crystal has its own CPS (Crystal Position System) range. It calls to the Dragon to help them to be found. As a result, the Dragons were pulled away from the Realm as they had to search farther and farther away in order to regain their birth crystals. This is the reason that the Dragons finally all left the Realm. (Others have many conspiracy theories around why the Dragons all left, but now you know the real story...) What does this have to do with Spite... let alone Hungry? Hungry's parents recognized that all of the Dragons were departing the Realms in search for their stolen property. They were also worried what it meant for this much magic to leave and never return to the Realm. They decided to seek out the Sleeping Sisters to discover if the Sisters could see into the future to help them. The Dragons were told of a prophecy about a Wish Dragon saving the land for good or for evil. The Sisters told them that if a Wish Dragon was not to be found, then it was a possibility that a evil would rule the land. At this gathering of the Sisters and Dragons were Hungry's parents. One of them was the Wish Dragon that hatched when Spite was "born". Then Hungry's parents left in search of their missing crystals. They had to leave their remaining egg behind but hoped it would be well cared for. They had hoped to return before it hatched but in spite of all their good plans, Spite felt that she had been abandoned. Oh the plans of wizards, Dragons and mystics... as they don't always go the way expected.
Now we know about the birth of Spite, but why is she with the Wizard Dewin? What does she hope to find there and what does she know about Hungry, the Wish Dragon?
As the conversation started to slow, Hewy finally asked the question that had been nagging at him since he received the Petal Post. "Why after all of these years have you finally tried to reach me?" Awena knew the conversation would eventually get to this question and had been waiting for it to be asked. "Hewy, let me tell you of why I had to come here and what I found. I felt a strong pull to the Sleeping Sisters and it was during my early training that I discovered a scroll in the library. It was old even then when I first unearthed it those many years ago. I was a young novice and so new to my studies but this scroll had a prophecy written on it. It had a troll in it and each time I read it I was reminded of you." Closing her eyes as if trying to remember what was written, she took a small breath, and began. "The entire prophecy is very long and convoluted as if the writer was slightly crazed and wrote down the thoughts that came to his mind, but, in it there is a part that suggests you will help save all of the Realms or help destroy them." Hewy jumped up from the floor where he had been sitting. "What are you talking about? You must be wrong!" Without moving, Awena slowly continued speaking, "This is what is in the prophecy that you must know." With her eyes still closed she repeated the words she had memorized those long years ago. Which way will it sway and who will triumph none yet can foretell but for good to win the evil must not prevail; for if evil wins forever magic will be changed or lost and the Realms will suffer at the cost. For in the telling of this tale a musician must play as the dryad who has forsaken it's way; the troll will mend what was once broken as they both must gain the Dragyn 's token. Hewy, standing before her, was trying to both understand and remember the prophecy. As surprised as he was, he failed to notice the small tear at the corner of Awena's eye. Had he but known the rest of the tale, he might have made a different decision that day.
Little do they all realize, but this unique meeting could shape the entire future of both the Realm of Wymsy and the Shadows' Realm.
“Growwwlll…” “Who’s there?” he stammered. With only hearing another loud growl, he slowly starts to back away from the bushes. Just then a long snout pokes out! It was a long purplish nose that had two dark eyes above it looking back at him. Stumbling as he continued moving backward, Sprout glanced down and also saw some very large feet sticking out of the bushes. This was definitely not a tree or anything he had ever seen before!
Hungry continued, “Do you think they would share some of those delicious smelling cakes you were singing about?” Now this surprised Sprout, first a talking Dragon, but secondly, one who was wanting the same thing he wanted. “You are not going to eat me?” asked Sprout. “Do you taste good?” answered Hungry. “I normally don’t like green food. I would rather try some of the delicious smelling treats instead.” “I have never thought about if I taste good or not. I don’t think I do, so, let’s get some of the Sugar Plum Muffins instead,” he told the Dragon. “By the way, my name is Sprout. What’s yours?” “I am Hungry. You remind me of a friend of mine. Do you know Meen? I was with her before the Shadow King sent me with a Nytemare to find my teacher here in the Shadows’ Realm. I got hungry on the way and somehow lost my guide.” As Hungry’s stomach grumbled some more, louder than before this time, Sprout was starting to realize that maybe he had found someone who had a sweet tooth as big as his. “Let’s get some muffins and you can tell me more about your travels here. Maybe Meen will come by while we are at the bakery. Sometimes we meet there before we go out for some fun,” Sprout told the Dragon as they started off to the bakery.
“It’s getting close to dinner time. I am taking you to my home to see if dinner is ready and I am sure that mom would like to meet you. Maybe she can help you find your teacher,” answered Sprout. “And maybe help me find my pillow? I really miss it…”
Efem grew catnip (only the premium kind), ferns to play hide and seek in, and a tree stump with just the right shape for a comfortable cat-bed. He did like looking down on his domain from his bed. Efem touched the stump and magically his favorite cat pillow appeared along with a special crème ala cream bowl of milk. “She is the best pet I ever had,” thought The CAT as he started eating. Soon he was full and contented. Now this CAT was ornery, stubborn, mischievous, and sometime wickedly playful, but his worst vice was that he liked to listen to gossip. The birds were the best gossipers in the realm and he spent hours sitting in trees listening to the Twitter Line (while also waiting for a meal to get too close). Today’s gossip was too good to hold in though and he decided he had to tell someone. Noticing Efem looking at the young saplings in the grove, he sauntered up to her legs and started rubbing himself against her. Using mind-talk he told her “Hungry soon.” Before Efem realized it was The CAT talking, she answered “I already fed you.” When she realized it was The CAT, she gasped. Never had The CAT spoke to her. “I’m not talking about being hungry. Hungry the Wish Dragon will be here soon. You can pick me up and pet me now if you would like and I will tell you the gossip about him,” The CAT replied.
"There was this Outie who wished for a Mountain of Gold! I mean really, he couldn't have asked for a molehill or a hummock. Then what did the Dragon do - but give it to him. I don’t remember exactly what happened but the Outie received his mountain but it was not as he expected. It was a mountain with the gold laying deep down inside of it. This of course created chaos as all the other Outies also wanted their share of the gold and rushed to the mountain." "A group of Fae had been watching and didn't like the greed and fighting that broke out between the Outies. How stupid to be fighting over something like gold. Now being annoyed because a new mountain appears in the middle of the Village I understood. Anyhow, these weren't the feelings and experiences the Fae had hoped to share with the Outies. After talking among themselves, they decided to volunteer to become interpreters to the literal minded Dragons. This way, the Fae who better understood the Dragons, hoped they could help the Outies and keep the natural balance of harmony. As interpreters, they could also stop misunderstandings such as this from happening again. It was this conflict that created the Wish Dragon clan. That is where our family comes in son.”
As the Dowager and the Dragon leave the parlor, the Baron closes his eyes, shakes his head and shrugs his shoulders. "Oh no, I forgot all about Sneefle. Fiddlefaddle will not be overly thrilled when he arrives..."
"With all this loose and chaotic magic floating around from the Outies making wishes left and right, the Dragons granting them, and the fairies trying to keep up with all these new experiences; finally, the Fae decided to request a council with the Dragons. A decision had to be made to restore the natural order of things in the realm. Some of the Fae still wanted to observe the Outies while others decided to migrate to the Shadow's Realm. The Fae that left felt that they could adjust easier to hiding within shadows than to the Outies. In the Shadow's Realm they could continue to live in the Old Ways while not scaring the Outies.” “So that is why the Shadow's Realm limits who can go there,” the Baron said, drawing a stern look from his mother and Hungry for interrupting her story.
Placing her cup on the saucer and then setting it down on the table, Griselda began. “Now that we are seated and I have had some tea, I will tell you how you are a Dragon my son.” As she starts, Hungry pulls up a cushy pillow and squirms around on it. “Hmmm,” he thinks... “this is more comfortable than my rock.” “Before I tell you about the Wish Dragons," Griselda continues, "I have to go even further back to when the Realm was young and just starting to be. Everything has a beginning and so too does the Realm of Wymsy. Would it surprise you son, that your ancestors were both of the Fae and Human world?” “Mother, today nothing would surprise me after finding out that I am also a Dragon,” smiled the Baron. Griselda smiled back at him and continued her story. “It is like when you live a place that is so beautiful and has so many special things to see and do, you don’t notice them anymore as being anything special,” answered the Dowager. “It was because of this that the Dragons started to travel the surrounding lands to discover new things. A Dragon’s curiosity and thirst for knowledge is legendary. They must have new experiences so their magic can grow and adapt. Without change, their magic starts to grow stagnant and they become idle. When a Dragon is idle too long, it reverts back to the stones from which it came from.” Startled, Hungry jumped from his seat and looked down as if he could see through the floors of the Mansion to his rock in the cave. “I could be sitting on another Dragon in my cave?” “It is not quite like that Hungry. No, I don’t think you are sitting on another Dragon. So sit back down so I can continue the story.” Hungry snuggled back into the feather pillow. “Purrr - I really do need to see if I can take this down to the cave later,” he thought. “It was during a Dragon’s travels, looking for a new adventure, when it discovered humans. Originally, we did not know what to call them, so they became ‘Outies’ since they lived outside of our realm. We did not call this land the Realm of Wymsy then, as both the Fae and the Dragons just knew it to be where they lived. It wasn’t until the Outies came to the realm that it was named, but, I get ahead of myself. Now, where was I?” “You were starting to tell us about the Dragon who found humans, sorry, Outies,” quickly replied the Baron wanting to hear more. “Mother, you don’t mean Merlin as in THE Merlin in the King Arthur tales that the humans speak of in the Outer Lands?” exclaimed the Baron. “But, now that I think further on it, the Dragon was symbolic in the tales of Merlin and Arthur. Please, Mother, go on. This is getting more exciting!!! I wish I would have known this before my travels in their lands.” “The Dragon returned to his land telling the other dragons about what he had found. Soon, many of the Dragons were visiting the Outies. They were returning with new experiences and adventures that they shared with the each other. It was about this time the Fae realized that trouble was beginning to brew. As I said earlier, Dragons are literal. To the point of complete misunderstanding! The Outies could ask for something like ‘food’ and get charcoal. Now, to a Dragon, charcoal is food, so it could not understand why the Outie was not happy with having their wish answered.” Griselda paused to take a small sip of tea as Hungry and the Baron sat quietly, waiting for her to continue the story. “One day a Dragon brought an entire village of Outies back to it's realm because a mountain that the Dragon had landed on had crumbled and was about to bury the village. The Dragon felt so bad about it that it magically removed the entire village from their land to ours. This village became The Village on the Wall that we live in. Yes that is that same village the dragon brought back.”
Immediately the baby Dragon smiles and its eyes light up with a slight glow. “I DO know you!” Hungry shouts. “You are a Dragon!” “Yes, little one, I am,” whispers the Dowager. This caught the Baron off guard. How could his mother be a Dragon. That’s not right since she was his mother and he knew he wasn’t a Dragon. Something else must be going on here. “Mom, can you tell me what you two are talking about? Please?” Why, Allowishes do you think you can find the magical creatures you save? And why you feel the need to help and protect them? Hungry, you are the first Wish Dragon I have seen in many, many, many years. Sadly there was a dark time that came to the Village that destroyed the trust between the Dragons and us. They were driven away - never to be seen again. You, Hungry, are the answer to my 'Wish'. Now, lets go back to the parlor so I can sit down in a comfortable chair and I will tell you all about your Dragon history." As the Baron and Grisdelda started walking back to the Mansion, Griselda turned to look at the baby Dragon, "Hurry up Hungry. I am sure we can find something more comfortable for you to sit on other than a rock." "But I like my rock," grumbled Hungry under his breath, as he slid from the stone he had been sitting on and started following her out of the cave.
